Bilirubin Targeting WNK1 to Alleviate NLRP3‐Mediated Neuroinflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
At physiological concentrations, bilirubin binds to the kinase domain of WNK1, thereby augmenting its activity and facilitating the phosphorylation of downstream SPAK/OSR1. This phosphorylation inhibits KCC2 activity, leading to elevate intracellular chloride levels in neurons.

Muscle‐Derived Small Extracellular Vesicles Mediate Exercise‐Induced Cognitive Protection in Chronic Cerebral Hypoperfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
sEVs have a critical role in orchestrating interorgan crosstalk and mediating exercise‐induced therapeutic effects. Lin et al. demonstrates that sEVs miR‐17/20a‐5p mediates the muscle‐brain crosstalk and emphasizes the central role of mTOR signaling in executing molecular programs that can protect brain health in response to exercise. Abstract Physical

Korelasi Rasio Kolesterol Total Terhadap HDL dengan Prediksi Outcome Stroke Iskemik Akut

open access: yesQanun Medika: Jurnal Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya, 2018
Stroke is the leading cause of death in Indonesia with the significant increase in prevalence each year. The dominant stroke is ischemic stroke which is often caused by abnormal blood lipid profile which is the increase of total cholesterol to High ...

Stroke-associated pneumonia and acute stroke: frequency, prognostic value and impact of comorbidities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The aim of research was to evaluate the frequency of nosocomial pneumonia and other hospital-acquired complications after acute ischemic stroke, to assess the impact of somatic comorbidity on pneumonia occurrence, and to determine the relation of ...

Association between plasma levels of hyaluronic acid and functional outcome in acute stroke patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BACKGROUND: Activation of hyaluronic acid (HA) and associated enzyme synthesis has been demonstrated in experimental stroke animal models. Our study aimed to investigate the plasma levels of HA in acute stroke patients and the associations between HA ...

Network Desynchronization with Sine Waves: from Synchrony to Asynchrony by Periodic Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Exogenous alternating current fields are explored and interact with cerebral cortex slow waves in vitro and in silico. Varying frequency and amplitude of sine waves result in distinct network dynamics, from phase‐locking and entrainment to desynchronization. These responses occupy specific regions within the parameter space.

Elevated Total Homocysteine Levels in Acute Ischemic Stroke Are Associated With Long-Term Mortality

open access: yesStroke, 2015
Background and Purpose— Total homocysteine (tHcy) levels are associated with secondary vascular events and mortality after stroke. The aim of this study was to investigate whether tHcy levels in the acute phase of a stroke contribute to the recurrence of

A High‐Fidelity RNA‐Targeting Cas13X Downregulates Connexin43 in Macroglia: A Novel Neuroprotective Strategy for Glaucoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study highlights the role of connexin43 (Cx43) in mediating glia activation and neuroinflammation in glaucoma. Using Cx43 knockout mice, it is shown that macroglial cells‐derived Cx43 modulates microglial activation, proliferation, migration, and polarization.

A study of factors delaying hospital arrival and predictors of mortality in patients presenting to emergency department with stroke: A developing state scenario [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background: Thrombolytic therapy for acute ischemic stroke has recently become available in India but its success depends on initiating the treatment in the narrow therapeutic time window.
