Prmt6 Deficiency or Inhibition Restores Microglial Homeostasis and Promotes Scar‐Limited Repair in Adult Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
After spinal cord injury, adult microglia remain persistently activated with chronic PRMT6 (protein arginine methyltransferase 6) upregulation. Prmt6 deficiency or inhibition reestablishes microglial homeostasis and promotes a scar‐limited repairment, enhancing axonal regrowth.

Abciximab in Acute Ischemic Stroke

open access: yes, 2000
Background and Purpose —Abciximab is a potent parenterally administered platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa antagonist. Because this agent has been shown to improve outcomes in coronary artery disease, there is interest to evaluate ...

Development of a Human 3D Immune‐Competent Neurovascular Model Enabling Time‐Resolved Monitoring of Neuroinflammatory Dynamics and Neuroimmune Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neuroinflammation alters blood–brain barrier integrity and contributes to neurological disorders, yet existing models lack human immune complexity. This study presents a 3D, immune‐responsive platform that reconstructs key neurovascular components and enables real‐time monitoring.

Ciclopirox Olamine Inhibits the NLRP3 Inflammasome to Alleviate Inflammatory Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
There is no drug targeting the NLRP3 inflammasome that has been approved for use in clinical settings. Ciclopirox olamine (CPX), an antifungal agent approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is identified as a specific and potent NLRP3 inflammasome inhibitor. CPX targets the NACHT domain of NLRP3 at Y381 to impair NLRP3 oligomerization and

Anticoagulant therapy for ischemic stroke: A review of literature

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2012
For many years, anticoagulants have been used in the emergent treatment of patients with acute ischemic stroke. Anticoagulants are prescribed in an effort to prevent first or recurrent stroke, especially among patients with cardioembolism due to arterial

A case of ischemic stroke in the basal ganglia presenting with fecal and urinary incontinence as initial clinical manifestations

open access: yesBMC Neurology
Limb disorders and slurred speech are common clinical symptoms associated with acute ischemic stroke. Although urinary incontinence is a known symptom in many cases of acute ischemic stroke, the simultaneous impairment of both bowel and bladder function ...

No influence of dabigatran anticoagulation on hemorrhagic transformation in an experimental model of ischemic stroke

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Dabigatran etexilate (DE) is a new oral direct thrombin inhibitor. Clinical trials point towards a favourable risk-to-benefit profile of DE compared to warfarin. In this study, we evaluated whether hemorrhagic transformation (HT) occurs after

Pathological Mechanism‐Inspired Biomimetic Nano‐Senotherapy for Reversing Experimental Atherosclerosis in ApoE−/− Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The biomimetic self‐assembly nanomedicine reversing atherosclerosis via senotherapy strategy. ABSTRACT The greatest challenge in atherosclerosis (AS) management lies in achieving lesion reversal, not merely slowing progression. Senescent cell accumulation—driven by continuous generation and apoptotic resistance—perpetuates plaque pathology and ...

A Dual‐Phase Exosomal Nanotherapy Enhances Continual Efferocytosis by Coordinating Checkpoint Inhibition and Metabolic Reprogramming in Atherosclerosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Here we developed Am@SExo, a dual‐functional engineered exosome that coordinates CD47–SIRPα checkpoint blockade with Arg1 mRNA–mediated metabolic reprogramming. Surface SIRPα promotes recognition of apoptotic cells and plaque targeting, while Arg1 expression enhances arginine–ornithine metabolism, Rac1 activation, and actin remodeling in macrophages ...
