Acidosis Forces Fatty Acid Uptake and Metabolism in Cancer Cells Regardless of Genotype
This study demonstrates that biological acidosis, commonly observed in tumors and ischemic conditions, actively promotes the protonation of fatty acids, thereby facilitating the uptake of their neutral forms. Consequently, the preference for lipid metabolism in acid‐exposed cells does not arise from genetic reprogramming that prioritizes lipids as the ...

This study identifies ZDHHC12 as a critical mediator of PA‐induced HCC progression. Mechanistically, PA upregulates ZDHHC12 expression through SMARCA4 activation, leading to HDAC8 palmitoylation at Cys244 which blocks HSC70‐mediated lysosomal degradation of HDAC8, thereby promoting HCC development. These findings provide novel mechanistic insights into

YTHDC1 Is Essential for Postnatal Liver Development and Homeostasis
This study identifies YTHDC1 as a key regulator of postnatal liver development and disease. Hepatocyte‐specific deletion of Ythdc1 impairs hepatocyte maturation, causing liver injury, contributing to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and hepatocellular carcinoma.

A Plasmodium LARC GAP provides preerythrocytic, stage and species transcending protection in mice
Malonyl-CoA-acyl carrier protein transacylase (MCAT) catalyzes the transfer of a malonyl moiety from malonyl–CoA to acyl carrier protein during the initiation step of type II fatty acid synthesis (FASII).

Ruminant meat is widely appreciated for its distinctive flavor. Lipids play a central role in influencing meat flavor, yet their genetic and biochemical basis remains largely unexplored. Here, a comprehensive lipid genetic map of sheep muscle is constructed and 20 candidate genes potentially modulating lipid levels are identified to provide a roadmap ...

Amide Chemistry Enables Redox Locking of Cyclic Disulfides for Polypeptide Assembly
The stability of a family of cyclic dichalcogenides derived from cysteine is significantly enhanced against reductants upon acylation of the alpha‐amino group. Amide formation serves as a redox lock, offering a mechanism to achieve selectivity in the assembly of large cyclic polypeptides on a water‐compatible solid support.

The mechanism diagram reveals that the formation of trauma‐induced heterotopic ossification (HO) is accompanied by the polarization of macrophages toward the M1 phenotype. Additionally, the extracellular vesicles secreted by M1 macrophages, which contain periostin (POSTN), directly bind to PTK7 in tendon‐derived stem cells (TDSCs).

On‐Demand Photodegradable and Thermo‐Reversible, Soft, Transparent Dithioacetal Hydrogels
A versatile chemical platform for the development of photodegradable and thermally–reversible hydrogels is presented. The hydrogels were synthesized via a step‐growth reaction of a difunctional PEG‐thiol with an aromatic dialdehyde cross‐linker. The photosensitive dithioacetal bonds endowed the material with photodegradable and thermo‐reversible ...
