Reaction Engineering of In Vitro Natural Product Biosynthesis: Challenges and Strategies

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
The yield and turnover of in vitro natural product biosynthesis, and even its feasibility, are determined by intermolecular interactions. Reaction engineering allows to improve the performance of such complex biocatalytic systems. Natural products are widely used as pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, or as active ingredients in food and cosmetics ...

C‐Acylation of Guaiacol with Acetic Acid Over Solid Acid Catalysts Under Mild Reaction Conditions

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
Direct acylation of guaiacol (G) with acetic acid (AA) over Aquivion® PW87 under mild conditions affords 4‐hydroxy‐3‐methoxyacetophenone (p‐HMAP) with a remarkable para/ortho molar ratio of 26:1. Combined DFT and experimental studies reveal an acid‐catalyzed intermolecular acyl transfer via 2‐methoxyphenyl acetate (MPA), enabling a highly selective and

Photoswitching of the Two‐Photon Absorption of Donor‐Acceptor Substituted Dithienylethenes

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
Switching two‐photon absorption: Donor‐acceptor substituted dithienylethenes are shown to switch their two‐photon absorption properties upon light‐induced electrocyclic isomerization. In this work the structural and electronic integration of push–pull systems with photoactivatable dithienylethenes (DTEs) is demonstrated.

Photochemical Allylation of Aldehydes or Alkanes with Vinyl Cyclopropanes

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
An acylation or alkylation of vinyl cyclopropanes, employing tetra‐n‐butylammonium decatungstate as the photocatalyst, leading allyl ketones or alkenes is presented. A diverse range of substrates were compatible with this protocol, while flow conditions were also developed and mechanistic studies were also performed.

Kinetics of the reactions of the acid anhydrides with aromatic amines in aprotic solvents [PDF]

open access: yes
Work has revealed that diamine derivatives of diphenylmethane (IV), diphenyl ether (V), benzophenone (IV), fluorene (VII), and fluorenone (VIII) polymerizations with pyromellitic dianhydride in DMA were dependent on the basicity of the amine compound ...
