Induction of Cell Death by Combined Treatment with Photosensitizer‐Chitosan Nanoparticles and the Ferroptosis Inducer RSL3 in Breast Cancer Cell Lines

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that combination of phosphosensitizer‐conjugated chitosan nanoparticles and ferroptosis inducer RSL3 increases cell death in mesenchymal breast cancer cells. Data suggests that this is attributed to variations in ferroptosis‐related protein expression, lipid peroxydation and mitochondrial function.

Overexpression of diacylglycerol acyltransferase in Yarrowia lipolytica affects lipid body size, number and distribution.

open access: yesFEMS Yeast Research, 2016
In the oleaginous yeast Yarrowia lipolytica, the diacylglycerol acyltransferases (DGATs) are major factors for triacylglycerol (TAG) synthesis. The Q4 strain, in which the four acyltransferases have been deleted, is unable to accumulate lipids and to ...

A Grapevine Anthocyanin Acyltransferase, Transcriptionally Regulated by VvMYBA, Can Produce Most Acylated Anthocyanins Present in Grape Skins1

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 2015
An anthocyanin acyltransferase with an unusual substrate flexibility is truncated in cv Pinot Noir, a grapevine cultivar lacking acylated red pigments.

Acylation of monolysocardiolipin in rat heart

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1999
Cardiolipin is a major mitochondrial membrane glycerophospholipid in the mammalian heart. In this study, the ability of the isolated intact rat heart to remodel cardiolipin and the mitochondrial enzyme activities that reacylate monolysocardiolipin to ...

Could Duodenal Molecular Mechanisms be Involved in the Hypocholesterolemic Effect of Silicon Used as Functional Ingredient in Late‐Stage Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus?

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 66, Issue 24, December 2022., 2022
Duodenal mucosa in early‐stage type 2 diabetes mellitus (ED), late‐stage type 2 diabetes mellitus injected with streptozotocin‐nicotinamide (STZ/NAD) (LD) and treated‐silicon LD (LD‐Si) groups. Silicon partially reversed LD group alterations: decreased absorptive area and acyl‐Coenzyme A:cholesterol acyltransferase 2 (ACAT2) levels, and increased ...

An involvement of phospholipase A/acyltransferase family proteins in peroxisome regulation and plasmalogen metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 2017
The H‐Ras‐like suppressor (HRASLS) is a protein family consisting of five members in humans. Despite their discovery as tumor suppressors, we demonstrated that all these proteins are phospholipid‐metabolizing enzymes, such as phospholipase (PL) A1/A2 and

Structural basis for selective recognition of acyl chains by the membrane-associated acyltransferase PatA

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
The biosynthesis of phospholipids and glycolipids are critical pathways for virtually all cell membranes. PatA is an essential membrane associated acyltransferase involved in the biosynthesis of mycobacterial phosphatidyl-myo-inositol mannosides (PIMs ...

Molecular species of phosphatidylcholine in abetalipoproteinemia: effect of lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase and lysolecithin acyltransferase.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1989
In order to study the role of very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) and low density lipoproteins (LDL) in determining the molecular species composition of phosphatidylcholine (PC) and the specificity of lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) in human plasma, we studied the PC species composition in plasma from abetalipoproteinemic (ABL) and control
