Ischemic preconditioning attenuates portal venous plasma concentrations of purines following warm liver ischemia in man [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Background/Aims: Degradation of adenine nucleotides to adenosine has been suggested to play a critical role in ischemic preconditioning (IPC). Thus, we questioned in patients undergoing partial hepatectomy whether (i) IPC will increase plasma purine ...

Effects of high sucrose diets and 4-aminopyrazolopyrimidine on serum lipids and lipoproteins in the rat

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1971
The effect of feeding a semipurified diet high in sucrose on serum lipid and lipoprotein concentrations was studied. In rats fed this diet the serum triglyceride concentration doubled, and liver triglyceride concentration increased by 30%.

Adenine Abundance in a Collapsing Molecular Cloud [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A vital ingredient of DNA molecule named adenine may be produced by successive addition of HCN during molecular cloud collapse and star formation. We compute its abundance in a collapsing cloud as a function of the reaction rate and show that in much of ...

Key Trends and Insights in Smart Polymeric Skin Wearable Patches

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent polymers, which respond to various physical and biological stimuli, are explored for the development of skin wearable patches in biomedical applications. Smart polymers, also known as intelligent or stimuli‐responsive polymers, play a crucial role in the development of advanced wearable patches due to their versatility and softness.

Nucleotides: Structure and Properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Nucleotides consist of a nitrogen-containing base, a five-carbon sugar, and one or more phosphate groups. Cells contain many types of nucleotides, which play a central role in a wide variety of cellular processes, including metabolic regulation and the ...

Self‐Cascade Catalytic Reaction–Assisted Apoptosis/Calcicoptosis/Ferroptosis Induction with Microsphere‐Aggregated Hydrogels in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hyaluronic acid‐dopamine‐based intra‐crosslinked microsphere including cisplatin (HPC MS) is fabricated by spray‐drying and calcium/iron ions are introduced for interparticle crosslinking. Designed microsphere‐aggregated hydrogel (MAH) system including cisplatin/CaO2/FeSO4 can provide apoptosis/calcicoptosis/ferroptosis‐mediated chemo/cascade ...

The effect of adenine adsorption on Zn (II) electroreduction in acetate buffer.

open access: yesActa Chimica Slovenica, 2018
The paper presents the thermodynamic analysis of adenine adsorption on a mercury electrode in an acetate buffer at pH 3 and pH 4. Adsorption energy and constants were determined using the Frumkin isotherm and the virial isotherm.

Regulation of bistability in the std fimbrial operon of Salmonella enterica by DNA adenine methylation and transcription factors HdfR, StdE and StdF [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Bistable expression of the Salmonella enterica std operon is controlled by an AND logic gate involving three transcriptional activators: the LysR-type factor HdfR and the StdE and StdF regulators encoded by the std operon itself.
