Axin-dependent Phosphorylation of the Adenomatous Polyposis Coli Protein Mediated by Casein Kinase 1ε [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2001
Axin and the adenomatous polyposis coli protein (APC) interact to down-regulate the proto-oncogene beta-catenin. We show that transposition of an axin-binding site can confer beta-catenin regulatory activity to a fragment of APC normally lacking this activity.

Association and regulation of casein kinase 2 activity by adenomatous polyposis coli protein [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2002
Mutations in the adenomatous polyposis coli ( APC ) gene are responsible for familial adenomatous polyposis coli and also sporadic colorectal cancer development. By using antibodies raised against the N-terminal region of APC protein, we have detected the variable masses of endogenous APC proteins in individual cell

Bi-allelic Loss of Human APC2, Encoding Adenomatous Polyposis Coli Protein 2, Leads to Lissencephaly, Subcortical Heterotopia, and Global Developmental Delay. [PDF]

open access: yesAm J Hum Genet, 2019
Lissencephaly is a severe brain malformation in which failure of neuronal migration results in agyria or pachygyria and in which the brain surface appears unusually smooth.

The adenomatous polyposis coli protein and retinoblastoma protein are cleaved early in apoptosis and are potential substrates for caspases [PDF]

open access: yesCell Death & Differentiation, 1998
Apoptosis in human monocytic THP.1 tumour cells, induced by diverse stimuli, was accompanied by proteolytic cleavage of the adenomatous polyposis coli gene product (APC) and by sequential cleavage of the retinoblastoma susceptibility gene product (Rb).

Membrane Localization of Adenomatous Polyposis Coli Protein at Cellular Protrusions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2006
Adenomatous polyposis coli protein (APC) translocates to, and stabilizes, the plus-ends of microtubules. In microtubule-dependent cellular protrusions, APC frequently accumulates in peripheral clusters at the basal membrane.

Identification of a novel CNV at the APC gene in a Chinese family with familial adenomatous polyposis

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences, 2023
Introduction: Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is the second most commonly inherited colorectal cancer (CRC) predisposition caused by germline mutations within the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene.

Mutational Analysis of a Familial Adenomatous Polyposis Pedigree with Bile Duct Polyp Phenotype

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2021
A large number of colorectal cancers have a genetic background in China. However, due to insufficient awareness, the diagnostic rate remains low and merely 5-6% of colorectal cancer patients are diagnosed with hereditary colorectal cancer.

Statin Treatment as a Targeted Therapy for APC-Mutated Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2022
BackgroundMutations in the tumor suppressor gene Adenomatous Polyposis Coli (APC) are found in 80% of sporadic colorectal cancer (CRC) tumors and are also responsible for the inherited form of CRC, Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP).MethodsTo identify ...
