Enzymatic regeneration of adenosine triphosphate cofactor [PDF]
Regenerating adenosine triphosphate (ATP) from adenosine diphosphate (ADP) by enzymatic process which utilizes carbamyl phosphate as phosphoryl donor is technique used to regenerate expensive cofactors.

Phosphoproteins and protein-kinase activity in isolated envelopes of pea (Pisum sativum L.) chloroplasts [PDF]
A protein kinase was found in envelope membranes of purified pea (Pisum sativum L.) chloroplasts. Separation of the two envelope membranes showed that most of the enzyme activity was localized in the outer envelope.

Interlinked GTPase cascades provide a motif for both robust switches and oscillators [PDF]
GTPases regulate a wide range of cellular processes, such as intracellular vesicular transport, signal transduction, and protein translation. These hydrolase enzymes operate as biochemical switches by toggling between an active guanosine triphosphate (GTP)-bound state and an inactive guanosine diphosphate (GDP)-bound state.

Ischemic preconditioning attenuates portal venous plasma concentrations of purines following warm liver ischemia in man [PDF]
Background/Aims: Degradation of adenine nucleotides to adenosine has been suggested to play a critical role in ischemic preconditioning (IPC). Thus, we questioned in patients undergoing partial hepatectomy whether (i) IPC will increase plasma purine ...

Nucleotide and Nucleotide Sugar Analysis by Liquid Chromatography-Electrospray Ionization-Mass Spectrometry on Surface-Conditioned Porous Graphitic Carbon [PDF]
We examined the analysis of nucleotides and nucleotide sugars by chromatography on porous graphitic carbon with mass spectrometric detection, a method that evades contamination of the MS instrument with ion pairing reagent.

Ultraslow water-mediated transmembrane interactions regulate the activation of A$_{\text{2A}}$ adenosine receptor [PDF]
Water molecules inside G-protein coupled receptor have recently been spotlighted in a series of crystal structures. To decipher the dynamics and functional roles of internal waters in GPCR activity, we studied A$_{\text{2A}}$ adenosine receptor using $\mu$sec-molecular dynamics simulations.

Broadband terahertz time-domain spectroscopy and fast FMCW imaging: principle and applications [PDF]
We report a broadband terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) which enables twenty vibrational modes of adenosine nucleoside to be resolved in a wide frequency range of 1-20 THz. The observed spectroscopic features of adenosine are in good agreement with the published spectra obtained using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Raman ...

Enzymid dephosphorylation of adenosine diphosphate phosphoglyceric acid [PDF]
Abstract An enzyme from muscle which acts on adenosine diphosphate phosphoglyceric acid and leads to the hydrolysis of the phosphate group at the 2-position of the glyceric acid moiety has been studied. The enzyme is strongly stimulated by inorgamoc pyrophosphate. This action is very specific. The enzyme also acts on 2,3-diphosphoglycerate.

UV resistance of nucleosides -- an experimental approach [PDF]
The emergence of life on Earth is a highly discussed but still unsolved question. Current research underlines the importance of environments within close proximity to the Earth's surface as they can solve long-standing problems such as polymerization of nucleotides and phosphorylation of nucleosides.
