Intense or prolonged exposure to stress can damage various brain structures, including the amygdala and hippocampus, which are associated with emotional-cognitive functions. Furthermore, this deterioration has been linked to a myriad of neurodegenerative

Integrated methylome–transcriptome–microbiome analysis of AD skin identified thousands of DMRs. Rho GTPase signaling and actin–junctional programs emerged as central hubs integrating immune, epithelial, and microbial interactions in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis.

Actin at cell-cell junctions is composed of two dynamic and functional populations
The ability of epithelial cells to polarize requires cell-cell adhesion mediated by cadherin receptors. During cell-cell contact, the mechanism via which a flat, spread cell shape is changed into a tall, cuboidal epithelial morphology is not known.

A Labile Pool of IQGAP1 Disassembles Endothelial Adherens Junctions
Adhesion molecules are known to play an important role in endothelial activation and angiogenesis. Here we determined the functional role of IQGAP1 in the regulation of endothelial adherens junctions.

ABSTRACT Background The tight junction protein CLDN6 has been identified as a cancer‐associated cell surface marker that is rarely expressed in healthy tissues. In testicular germ cell tumors (GCT), CLDN6 is particularly detectable in seminomas, embryonal carcinomas, and choriocarcinomas.

Afadin regulates actomyosin organization through αE-catenin at adherens junctions [PDF]
Actomyosin-undercoated adherens junctions are critical for epithelial cell integrity and remodeling. Actomyosin associates with adherens junctions through αE-catenin complexed with β-catenin and E-cadherin in vivo; however, in vitro biochemical studies ...

The textbook model of adherens junctions has been exploded, or severed, by Bill Weis, Soichiro Yamada, Frauke Drees, Sabine Pokutta, and W. James Nelson (Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, CA). There is no direct link, they say, between cadherin, via β- and α-catenin, to actin.

Blood vascular permeability is a hallmark of cancer and acts as an active driver of metastatic dissemination. Metastasis accounts for the vast majority of cancer deaths, yet most work has focussed on tumour‐intrinsic traits and angiogenesis, while the specific contribution of endothelial barrier regulation to intravasation and extravasation remains ...

In rats with a DHT deficiency induced by finasteride, morphological changes in the seminiferous epithelium were observed. The structural alterations were manifested by the premature germ cells sloughing into the lumen of seminiferous tubules.

YPEL3 functions as a tumor suppressor in HNSCC by inhibiting tumor progression and promoting apoptosis. Mechanistically, it enhances epithelial–immune crosstalk through the CREB1‐mediated CXCL16–CXCR6 axis, facilitating CD8+ T‐cell infiltration and highlighting its potential as a prognostic biomarker and immunotherapy target.
