Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

PATHOGENETIC SIGNIFICANCE OF LYMPHOCYTE-TO-PLATELET ADHERENCE

open access: yesМедицинская иммунология, 2014
. The data from literature and own results of the authors are presented in the article, concerning interactions between lymphocytes and platelets. It was demonstrated that the adherence of blood platelets to lymphocytes seems to be a reliable and highly ...

Local orientational ordering in fluids of spherical molecules with dipolar-like anisotropic adhesion

open access: yes, 2009
We discuss some interesting physical features stemming from our previous analytical study of a simple model of a fluid with dipolar-like interactions of very short range in addition to the usual isotropic Baxter potential for adhesive spheres.

ICAM G241A polymorphism and soluble ICAM-1 serum levels: Evidence for an active immune process in schizophrenia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Objectives: We have previously reported reduced serum levels of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) in schizophrenic patients. A single-nucleotide polymorphism ( SNP) of the ICAM-1 gene was described at position 241.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

EXPRESSION LEVELS OF SOME ADHESION MOLECULES IN THE INTACT AND UV-IRRADIATED Т-LYMPHOCYTES FROM HUMAN BLOOD

open access: yesМедицинская иммунология, 2014
. While employing an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, it was shown that UV-sensitivity is different for various adhesion molecules (CD2, CD11a and CD29) at the membranes of T-lymphocytes.

Solving the binding problem: cellular adhesive molecules and their control of the cortical quantum entangled network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Quantum entanglement is shown to be the only acceptable physical solution to the binding problem. The biological basis of interneuronal entanglement is described in the frames of the beta-neurexin-neuroligin model developed by Georgiev (2002) and is ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Adhesion and Co-stimulatory Molecules in the Pathogenesis of Hepatic and Intestinal Schistosomiasis Mansoni

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1998
Infection of a susceptible host with the blood fluke Schistosoma mansoni results in the formation of periovular granulomas and subsequent fibrosis in the target organs.

Purification of a fragment obtained by autolysis of a PIIIb-SVMP from Bothrops alternatus venom [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Snake Venom Metalloproteinases (SVMPs) represent 43.1% of the components in Bothrops alternatus venom and play an important role in envenomation. Disintegrins and disintegrin-like domains are released by proteolytic processing of PII and PIII classes of ...
