It is commonly assumed across the language sciences that some semantic participant information is lexically encoded in the representation of verbs and some is not. In this paper, we propose that semantic obligatoriness and verb class specificity are criteria which influence whether semantic information is lexically encoded.

Diazepam as an Adjunct to Bronchoscopy

A controlled double-blind study of 50 patients undergoing bronchoscopy under topical anesthesia was done to determine the effectiveness of diazepam (Valium) premedication as compared to meperidine. The majority of the patients in both groups were able to relax and cooperate during the procedure.
