Adrenarche in the rat [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Endocrinology, 2006
Normal pubertal development in humans involves two distinct processes: maturation of adrenal androgen secretion (adrenarche) and activation of the hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis (gonadarche). One factor thought to contribute to the adrenarche in man is increased adrenal 17-hydroxylase (CYP17) activity.

Premature Adrenarche in Children with Prader-Willi Syndrome Treated with Recombinant Human Growth Hormone Seems to Not Influence the Course of Central Puberty and the Efficacy and Safety of the Therapy

open access: yesLife, 2020
Puberty in children with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is usually delayed and/or incomplete but in some patients premature/early adrenarche is observed. We assessed the premature adrenarche (PA) in PWS patients during the recombinant human growth hormone ...

Update on adrenarche

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Pediatrics, 2020
Purpose of review Adrenarche is the pubertal maturation of the innermost zone of the adrenal cortex, the zona reticularis. The onset of adrenarche occurs between 6 and 8 years of age when dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) concentrations increase.

From adrenarche to aging of adrenal zona reticularis: precocious female adrenopause onset

open access: yesEndocrine Connections, 2020
Objective: Adaptive changes in DHEA and sulfated-DHEA (DHEAS) production from adrenal zona reticularis (ZR) have been observed in normal and pathological conditions.

Associations between multi-method latent factors of puberty and brain structure in adolescent girls

open access: yesDevelopmental Cognitive Neuroscience, 2023
Pubertal processes are associated with structural brain development, but studies have produced inconsistent findings that may relate to different measurements of puberty.

Premature pubarche as a first presentation of pituitary macroprolactinoma

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2020
Prolactinoma is a rare tumor of childhood. Clinical presentations of prolactinoma include amenorrhea, delayed puberty, and galactorrhea. For the first time, in this case, elevated prolactin levels were associated with unexpected premature pubarche.

The Relationship Between Premature Adrenarche and Platelet Aggregation

open access: yesJCRPE, 2023
INTRODUCTION: Premature adrenarche (PA) has been associated with an increase in adrenal androgens, and the hyperandrogenic hormonal environment is known to lead to increased platelet (PLT) aggregation.

Childhood environment influences adrenarcheal timing among first-generation Bangladeshi migrant girls to the UK.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
BackgroundAdrenarche is a key early life event that marks middle childhood at approximately 7 years of age. Earlier work with British-Bangladeshi migrant women suggested that environmental conditions experienced before adrenarche influence adult ...

Case Report: Anastrozole as a monotherapy for pre-pubertal children with non-classic congenital adrenal hyperplasia

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2023
Most children with non-classic congenital adrenal hyperplasia (NC-CAH) due to 21-hydroxylase deficiency are asymptomatic and do not require cortisol replacement therapy unless they develop symptoms of hyperandrogenemia.
