ABSTRACT Genetic disorders commonly share features such as developmental delays, cognitive impairment, and behavioral challenges, yet many conditions also present unique dysmorphic features that distinguish them. Performing a thorough medical and family history and a detailed physical exam with attention to dysmorphic features is often the first step ...

ABSTRACT Objective This study investigated how mandibular morphological shape and dental eruption patterns reflect chronological age in modern human juveniles, using geometric morphometrics. The aim was to assess their variation, covariation, and the accuracy of classifying individuals into age‐based groups using combined shape information.

Adrenarche: a cell biological perspective [PDF]
Adrenarche is a cell biological and endocrinological puzzle. The differentiation of the zona reticularis in childhood in humans requires special techniques for study because it is confined to humans and possibly a small number of other primates. Despite the rapid progress in the definition of adrenocortical stem/progenitor cells in

Biochemically adrenarche is characterized by increased production of 5-ene steroids, in particular Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHA) and its sulphate (DHA-S). It is still not clear if ACTH is responsible for this adrenal steroid production.

Androgen producing oncocytic adrenocortical tumor in a 3.7-year-old female
We report a 3.7-year-old female who presented with clinical features of premature adrenarche. Workup revealed significantly elevated androgen levels and advanced bone maturation, prompting abdominal imaging that identified a 6.0 cm adrenal mass.

Modelling timing and tempo of adrenarche in a prospective cohort study
To better understand how health risk processes are linked to adrenarche, measures of adrenarcheal timing and tempo are needed. Our objective was to describe and classify adrenal trajectories, in terms of timing and tempo, in a population of children ...
