Human fat cell beta-adrenergic receptors: beta-agonist-dependent lipolytic responses and characterization of beta-adrenergic binding sites on human fat cell membranes with highly selective beta 1-antagonists.

open access: hybridJournal of Lipid Research, 1988
Beta-adrenergic receptors were characterized in human fat cell membranes using 125I-labeled cyanopindolol (125I-labeled CYP) and highly selective beta 1-antagonists. The iodinated radioligand bound saturably and specifically to a single class of high affinity binding sites.

Differential modulation of Beta-adrenergic receptor signaling by trace amine-associated receptor 1 agonists. [PDF]

open access: goldPLoS ONE, 2011
Trace amine-associated receptors (TAAR) are rhodopsin-like G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR). TAAR are involved in modulation of neuronal, cardiac and vascular functions and they are potentially linked with neurological disorders like schizophrenia and ...

Adrenergic effects on hypothalamic activity: Alpha and beta agonists and antagonists [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Psychonomic Society, 1975
Dose-response curves were plotted to analyze the effects of adrenergic agonists and antagonists upon neural activity within the hypothalamus. Multiple unit activity (MUA) was recorded following microinjection of the drugs directly into the recording site through a hollow recording electrode.

Welfare traits of cattle castrated immunologically and fed beta-adrenergic agonists [PDF]

open access: yesAnimal Bioscience, 2021
Objective This work was carried out to evaluate the effects of zilpaterol hydrochloride (ZH) and ractopamine hydrochloride (RH) combined with immunocastration on the welfare traits of feedlot Nellore cattle. Methods Ninety-six Nellore males (average body

LBMON186 Beta-agonist Profiling Reveals Novel Biased Signaling Phenotypes For The Beta 2-adrenergic Receptor With Implications In The Treatment Of Asthma

open access: yesJournal of the Endocrine Society, 2022
Abstract Asthma involves chronic airway inflammation and airway smooth muscle (ASM) cell contraction. Treatment include agonists of the beta 2-AR, a GPCR that induces the Gs/cAMP pathway leading to ASM relaxation. These agonists can also promote severe side effects which have been correlated with beta-arrestins (barr) activation ...

Inhibition of the lipolytic action of beta-adrenergic agonists in human adipocytes by alpha-adrenergic agonists.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1981
The aim of this study was to define the role of the alpha-adrenergic receptor in the regulation of lipolysis by human adipocytes. Glycerol production by isolated human adipocytes was stimulated by the pure beta-adrenergic agonist isoproterenol in a dose ...

Beta-adrenergic receptor antagonism is proinflammatory and exacerbates neuroinflammation in a mouse model of Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2020
Adrenergic systems regulate both cognitive function and immune function. The primary source of adrenergic signaling in the brain is norepinephrine (NE) neurons of the locus coeruleus (LC), which are vulnerable to age-related degeneration and are one of ...

β2-adrenergic agonists modulate TNF-α induced astrocytic inflammatory gene expression and brain inflammatory cell populations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: The NF-kappa B signaling pathway orchestrates many of the intricate aspects of neuroinflammation. Astrocytic beta(2)-adrenergic receptors have emerged as potential regulators in central nervous system inflammation and are potential targets ...
