Ph‐Negative Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in the Older Adults: Biology, Therapeutic Strategies and Unmet Needs

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, Volume 117, Issue 1, Page 24-41, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) in older adults represents a growing clinical challenge, driven by an ageing population, adverse disease biology, and reduced tolerance to intensive chemotherapy. Although pediatric‐inspired regimens have improved outcomes in younger adults with Philadelphia chromosome (Ph)‐negative ALL, survival in older ...

Targeting the Menin–KMT2A Axis in Acute Leukemia: From Epigenetic Dependency to Clinical Translation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, Volume 117, Issue 1, Page 132-143, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Acute leukemias characterized by a shared epigenetic dependency on the menin–KMT2A axis rely on aberrant HOX‐driven transcriptional programs that sustain leukemic self‐renewal and impair differentiation. This dependency is most evident in KMT2A‐rearranged and NPM1‐mutated acute myeloid leukemia (AML), but also extends to other HOX‐dependent ...

Crosstalk between 14-3-3θ and AF4 enhances MLL-AF4 activity and promotes leukemia cell proliferation

open access: yesCellular Oncology, 2019
The t(4;11)(q21;q23) translocation characterizes a form of acute lymphoblastic leukemia with a poor prognosis. It results in a fusion gene encoding a chimeric transcription factor, MLL-AF4, that deregulates gene expression through a variety of still controversial mechanisms.

Supplementary Motor Area During Motor Actions in Athletes With Neurological Disorders: Observational Study of Cases and Controls

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
Athletes with neurological disorders showed increased supplementary motor and premotor area activation during soccer‐specific motor preparation with respect to healthy controls, particularly with the affected limb, suggesting compensatory neural strategies that support motor control and performance.

Bilateral repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation modulates the hemispheric imbalance in major depressive disorder

open access: yesGeneral Psychiatry, Volume 39, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Major depressive disorder (MDD) is characterised by interhemispheric functional imbalance, yet the neuromodulatory mechanisms underlying its correction remain poorly understood. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has shown promise in restoring hemispheric balance, but evidence regarding its effects on alpha‐band ...

Unraveling the cellular origin and clinical prognostic markers of infant B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia using genome-wide analysis

open access: yesHaematologica, 2019
B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia is the commonest childhood cancer. In infants, B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia remains fatal, especially in patients with t(4;11), present in ~80% of cases. The pathogenesis of t(4;11)/KMT2A-AFF1+ (MLL-AF4+) infant

Assessment of the Effects of Structural Modification of Gastrodia elata Polysaccharide on Anti-Breast Cancer Activity Using Asymmetrical Flow Field-Flow Fractionation

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
Gastrodia elata (“Tian Ma” in Chinese) is used as a food and medical ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine. In this study, to enhance the anti-breast cancer activity of Gastrodia elata polysaccharide (GEP), GEPs were modified via sulfidation (SGEP ...

Multifaceted Role of Extracellular Vesicles: Intercellular Messengers to Therapeutic Applications: A Narrative Review

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nanoscale carriers, including exosomes, microvesicles, and apoptotic bodies, that mediate intercellular communication by transporting proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and metabolites. They regulate immunity, tissue repair, and cell differentiation.
