Peptides with selective affinity for carbon nanotubes

Nature Materials, 2003
Because of their extraordinary electronic and mechanical properties, carbon nanotubes have great potential as materials for applications ranging from molecular electronics to ultrasensitive biosensors. Biological molecules interacting with carbon nanotubes provide them with specific chemical handles that would make several of these applications ...

Structure–Affinity Relationship Analysis of Selective FKBP51 Ligands

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2015
The FK506-binding protein 51 (FKBP51) is a promising drug target for the treatment of stress-related psychiatric or metabolic disorders. Just recently, the first selective ligands for FKBP51 were reported based on an induced fit mechanism, but they are too large for a further drug development process.

Poly(U)-Agarose Affinity Chromatography: Specific, Sensitivity Selectivity, and Affinity of Binding

Preparative Biochemistry, 1980
These studies were done to determine four basic intrinsic properties of poly(U)-agarose affinity columns. Specificity of binding studies demonstrated that binding to these columns is highly specific with greater than 90% complementary binding and less than or equal to 3% noncomplementary binding.

Factors controlling β1-adrenoceptor affinity and selectivity

Biochemical Pharmacology, 1985
A membrane preparation of the calf heart left ventricle has been used after identification and characterization, as a source of myocardial beta 1-adrenoceptor for radioligand binding studies. The displacement of specifically bound (-)-[3H]dihydroalprenolol by some beta-adrenoceptor ligands appeared to be pH-dependent, which could be related to the ...

Melanin-affinic thioureas as selective melanoma seekers

Melanoma Research, 1991
2-Thiouracil and some related thioureas are receiving growing interest as selective melanoma seekers. They are incorporated into growing melanin, apparently due to covalent binding to dopaquinone, and the adduct is gradually trapped in the melanin polymer during its formation.

Selection of phage antibodies by binding affinity. Mimicking affinity maturation.

Journal of molecular biology, 1992
We describe a process, based on display of antibodies on the surface of filamentous bacteriophage, for selecting antibodies either by their affinity for antigen or by their kinetics of dissociation (off-rate) from antigen. For affinity selection, phage are mixed with small amounts of soluble biotinylated antigen (less than 1 microgram) such that the ...

Selection rules for negative affinity emission

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1975
An error in an earlier publication (Bell 1973) has been pointed out by Burt and Inkson (see abstr. A22442 of 1975). The corrected treatment still implies appreciable hindrance by momentum conservation of negative affinity emission from silicon (110) and (111) surfaces.
