OPA1 in MC4R Neurons Regulates Dietary Fat Intake and Body Weight in Mice

Soybean oil intake induces OPA1 expression in hypothalamic MC4R neurons, contributing to adaptive regulation of appetite. MC4R neuron‐specific OPA1 deficiency increases soybean oil consumption and leads to obesity, with a more pronounced effect in females.

Loss of Striatal Bradykinin B2 Receptor Alters Anxiety and Motivational Behaviors in Male Mice

Impaired signaling of the bradykinin B2 receptor (B2R) in dorsal striatal neurons decreases anxiety‐like behavior and sucrose preference while enhancing voluntary running in mice. These results reveal a novel role for B2R in dopaminergic circuits that modulate motivation and emotional behavior.

Hypothalamic AgRP neurons regulate the hyperphagia of lactation

The lactational period is associated with profound hyperphagia to accommodate the energy demands of nursing. These changes are important for the long-term metabolic health of the mother and children as altered feeding during lactation increases the risk of mothers and offspring developing metabolic disorders later in life.

Ablation of AgRP neurons impairs adaption to restricted feeding

While the SCN controls the circadian clock, further evidence suggests the existence of a food-entrainable oscillator (FEO) that links behavior to changes in food availability such as during restricted feeding (RF). We found that the activity of AgRP/NPY neurons changed rhythmically during RF suggesting that these neurons are a component of the FEO.
