Microtubule dynamics regulate cyclic stretch-induced cell alignment in human airway smooth muscle cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Microtubules are structural components of the cytoskeleton that determine cell shape, polarity, and motility in cooperation with the actin filaments. In order to determine the role of microtubules in cell alignment, human airway smooth muscle cells were ...

Miniaturized Magnetic Tip Design for Endoluminal Vine Robot Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A magnetic tip mount is designed for a miniaturized 7 mm soft‐growing vine robot to enable wireless magnetic steering and onboard imaging, while preserving a 3 mm working channel. The internal–external ring magnets design balances magnetic attachment with low eversion pressure. Experiments demonstrate ±90° steering, 34 mm bending radius, and successful

Targeting the NR1D1–IGF2BP2–V‐ATPase Axis With Hybrid Nanovesicles Restores Macrophage Rhythms to Reverse Sepsis‐Induced Immunosuppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sepsis disrupts immune‐cell rhythms and weakens bacterial clearance. Biomimetic nanovesicles combining erythrocyte and inflammation‐activated macrophage membranes deliver siNR1D1 to dysfunctional macrophages, restoring the NR1D1–IGF2BP2–V‐ATPase pathway, circadian regulation, phagolysosomal acidification, and antimicrobial defense.

Bone Marrow Macrophage STING Signaling is a Direct Nexus Linking Marrow Adipose Expansion to NAD+ Depletion and Osteogenic Decline in Skeletal Aging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that during skeletal aging, bone marrow adipocyte‐derived sDPP4 primes STING signaling in macrophages. In combination with mitochondrial DNA, this signaling activates CD38 and depletes local NAD+/NMN, thereby impairing osteogenesis.

Mapping Embryonic Mouse Lung Development Using Enhanced Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The mammalian lung contains ∼50 cell types arranged along the airway epithelium. Here, deterministic barcoding sequencing (DBiT‐seq) is optimized to nearly double transcript recovery, enabling highly sensitive spatial mapping of the embryonic mouse lung.

Dextromethorphan mediated bitter taste receptor activation in the pulmonary circuit causes vasoconstriction. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Activation of bitter taste receptors (T2Rs) in human airway smooth muscle cells leads to muscle relaxation and bronchodilation. This finding led to our hypothesis that T2Rs are expressed in human pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells and might be involved

NS1‐Induced PARP1 Phase Transitions Prolongs Host Transcriptional Pausing to Promote Influenza A Virus Replication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
After IAV infection, NS1 induces PARP1 phase transition, reducing molecular mobility in condensates, prolonging host transcriptional pause, aiding RdRp cap snatching, and promoting viral transcription. ABSTRACT Influenza A virus (IAV) commandeers host transcriptional machinery to replicate, but mechanisms remain elusive.

A Robust Bio‐Supportive Hydrogel Patch for Full‐Thickness Repair of Gastroesophageal Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gastroesophageal defect repair remains a formidable clinical challenge plagued by high leakage and life‐threatening complications. We develop a double‐disc, highly crystalline PVA‐based RBS hydrogel patch featuring suture‐free sealing, robust acid/enzyme resistance and mechanical durability.
