A Model and Analysis of the AKAP Scaffold

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Theoretical Computer Science, 2010
AbstractWe study the biochemical processes involved in scaffold-mediated crosstalk between the cAMP and the Raf-1/MEK/ERK pathways. We model the system by a continuous time Markov chain with levels and analyse properties using Continuous Stochastic Logic and the symbolic probabilistic model checker PRISM.

Domain architecture of a Caenorhabditis elegans AKAP suggests a novel AKAP function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A-kinase anchoring proteins (AKAPs) are adapter proteins that are involved in directing cAMP-dependent protein kinase and some other signaling enzymes to certain intracellular locations.

PKA, PKC, and AKAP localization in and around the neuromuscular junction

open access: yesBMC Neuroscience, 2001
Background One mechanism that directs the action of the second messengers, cAMP and diacylglycerol, is the compartmentalization of protein kinase A (PKA) and protein kinase C (PKC). A-kinase anchoring proteins (AKAPs) can recruit both enzymes to specific

Modulation of calcium-dependent inactivation of L-type Ca2+ channels via β-adrenergic signaling in thalamocortical relay neurons. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Neuronal high-voltage-activated (HVA) Ca(2+) channels are rapidly inactivated by a mechanism that is termed Ca(2+)-dependent inactivation (CDI). In this study we have shown that β-adrenergic receptor (βAR) stimulation inhibits CDI in rat thalamocortical (

Selective Disruption of the AKAP Signaling Complexes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Synthesis of the second messenger cAMP activates a variety of signaling pathways critical for all facets of intracellular regulation. Protein kinase A (PKA) is the major cAMP-responsive effector. Where and when this enzyme is activated has profound implications on the cellular role of PKA.

AKAP signaling complexes: getting to the heart of the matter [PDF]

open access: yesTrends in Molecular Medicine, 2006
Subcellular compartmentalization of protein kinases and phosphatases through their interaction with A-kinase anchoring proteins (AKAPs) provides a mechanism to control signal transduction events at specific sites within the cell. Recent findings suggest that these anchoring proteins dynamically assemble different cAMP effectors to control the cellular ...

Tracking human multiple myeloma xenografts in NOD-Rag-1/IL-2 receptor gamma chain-null mice with the novel biomarker AKAP-4

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2011
Background Multiple myeloma (MM) is a fatal malignancy ranking second in prevalence among hematological tumors. Continuous efforts are being made to develop innovative and more effective treatments.

AKAPs: The architectural underpinnings of local cAMP signaling [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, 2012
The cAMP-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) is targeted to specific compartments in the cardiac myocyte by A-kinase anchoring proteins (AKAPs), a diverse set of scaffold proteins that have been implicated in the regulation of excitation-contraction coupling and cardiac remodeling.

Beyond Simple Mimicry: Next‐Generation Geometric Architectures and Future Paradigms in Small‐Molecule and Macrocyclic Peptidomimetics

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 40, 28 September 2026.
Peptide‐to‐Small Molecule Paradigm: Peptidomimetics have evolved from simple mimicry toward drug‐like scaffolds supported by increasing clinical successes. This Perspective highlights the geometric design principles—linear repetition, convergent fusion, and cyclization—defining the next‐generation peptidomimetic architectures capable of targeting ...
