Empirical LCAO parameters for $π$ molecular orbitals in planar organic molecules [PDF]
We present a parametrization within a simplified LCAO model (a type of Hueckel model) for the description of $\pi$ molecular orbitals in organic molecules containing $\pi$-bonds between carbon, nitrogen, or oxygen atoms with $sp^2$ hybridization, which we show to be quite accurate in predicting the energy of the highest occupied $\pi$ orbital and the ...

n-Aldehydes ( C 6 - C 10 ) in snow samples collected at the high alpine research station Jungfraujoch during CLACE 5 [PDF]
Samples of freshly fallen snow were collected at the high alpine research station Jungfraujoch, Switzerland, during the Cloud and Aerosol Characterization Experiments (CLACE) 5 in February and March 2006.

Model studies on the pattern of volatiles generated in mixtures of amino acids, lipid oxidation-derived aldehydes, and glucose [PDF]
The development of flavor and browning in thermally treated foods results mainly from the Maillard reaction and lipid degradation but also from the interactions between both reaction pathways.

Glioblastoma multiforme is the most devastating and incurable brain tumor. To better study this disease, a 3D model is developed using a hyaluronic acid‐based hydrogel combined with a multicellular approach. This model recapitulates in vivo brain stiffness, cell‐extracellular matrix and cell‐cell interactions and the tumor's hijacking function with the

Myoglobin-Catalyzed Olefination of Aldehydes.
The olefination of aldehydes constitutes a most valuable and widely adopted strategy for constructing carbon-carbon double bonds in organic chemistry. While various synthetic methods have been made available for this purpose, no biocatalysts are known to

Rhodium-catalysed hydroformylation of N-(2-propenyl)-β-lactams as a key step in the synthesis of functionalised N-[4-(2-oxoazetidin-1-yl)but-1-enyl]acetamides [PDF]
Biologically relevant functionalised N-[4-(2-oxoazetidin-1-yl)but-1-enyl]acetamides have been prepared in a two-step approach starting from N-(2-propenyl)-beta-lactams, involving initial rhodium-catalysed hydroformylation followed by subjection of the ...

A series of ultraviolet‐ and near‐infrared radiation sensitive photoactivatable hydrogels are developed that can be controlled spatiotemporally down to µm precisions using one‐ and two‐photon uncaging. The latent hydroxylamine‐, hydrazine‐, and amine uncaged moieties are used to photopattern a series of diverse proteins displaying complimentary ...

Aliphatic aldehydes have a high affinity toward aldehyde dehydrogenase activity but are relatively poor substrates of aldehyde oxidase and xanthine oxidase. In addition, the oxidation of xenobiotic-derived aromatic aldehydes by the latter enzymes has not been studied to any great extent.

The non‐fullerene acceptor o‐IDT‐BT‐DCV is used in both binary and ternary blends to investigate the role that it plays in each device architecture. The charge generation pathways are found to differ between the binary and ternary blends with o‐IDT‐BT‐DCV becoming a second donor in the ternary blend.
