Role of aldehyde chemistry and NO_x concentrations in secondary organic aerosol formation [PDF]
Aldehydes are an important class of products from atmospheric oxidation of hydrocarbons. Isoprene (2-methyl-1,3-butadiene), the most abundantly emitted atmospheric non-methane hydrocarbon, produces a significant amount of secondary organic aerosol (SOA ...

Oxidation of Aldehydes Used as Food Additives by Peroxynitrite
Benzaldehyde and its derivatives are used as food supplements. These substances can be used mainly as flavorings or as antioxidants. Besides, peroxynitrite, an oxidizing agent, could be formed in canned food. Both species could react between them.

Purification and kinetic characterisation of class 3 bovine corneal aldehyde dehydrogenase : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Chemistry at Massey University [PDF]
Aldehydes can be found in a wide variety of places. For example, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acrolein are products of combustion and are present in smog and cigarette smoke (Schaucnstein et al., 1977).

Peripheral blood proteome biomarkers distinguish immunosuppressive features of cancer progression
Immune status significantly influences cancer progression. This study used plasma proteomics to analyze benign 67NR and malignant 4T1 breast tumor models at early and late tumor stages. Immune‐related proteins–osteopontin (Spp1), lactotransferrin (Ltf), calreticulin (Calr) and peroxiredoxin 2 (Prdx2)–were associated with systemic myeloid‐derived ...

Method for the calculation of the Hamaker constants of organic materials by the Lifshitz macroscopic approach with DFT [PDF]
The Hamaker constants, which are coefficients providing quantitative information on intermolecular forces, were calculated for a number of different materials according to the Lifshitz theory via simple DFT calculations without any experimental measurements being performed.

Alkane biosynthesis gene expression and its increased production in recombinant cyanobacteria
The transcription and mRNA structures of the alkane biosynthesis genes ado/aar were analysed in the representative cyanobacteria PCC 6803 and SK1‐2‐1, which produce C17H36 and C15H32, respectively. PCC 6803 transconjugants carrying these genes showed a 1.8‐ to 2.3‐fold increase in C17H36 production.
