Inhibition of NPC Intracellular Cholesterol Transporter 1 Dually Regulates Aldosterone Secretion Via the Steroidogenic Acute Regulatory‐Related Lipid Transfer Domain‐3‐Voltage‐Dependent Anion Channel 1 Axis and Inositol 1,4,5‐Trisphosphate Receptor Type 3‐Calcium Signaling

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Aldosterone‐producing adenomas, a prevalent cause of endocrine hypertension, arise from uncontrolled aldosterone production. NPC1 (NPC intracellular cholesterol transporter 1) is a cholesterol transporter located on the lysosomal limiting ...

Indicators of humoral regulation of the circulatory system in obese patients [PDF]

open access: yesНаука и инновации в медицине, 2020
Objectives to study the indicators of humoral regulation of circulatory system in obese patients as the predictors of CHF development. Materials and methods. Two groups of 40 patients were formed: the first group consisted of patients with I or II ...

Distal renal tubules are deficient in aggresome formation and autophagy upon aldosterone administration.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Prolonged elevations of plasma aldosterone levels are associated with renal pathogenesis. We hypothesized that renal distress could be imposed by an augmented aldosterone-induced protein turnover challenging cellular protein degradation systems of the ...

The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system during haemodialysis with acetate or bicarbonate at different dialysate sodium concentrations

open access: yes, 1987
The hormones of the renin angiotensin aldosterone system were measured during regular haemodialysis with acetate or bicarbonate at dialysate sodium concentrations of 135, 140, 145, and 150 mmol/l.

Activation of aldosterone secretion in primary aldosteronism [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 1969
Angiotensin infusion evokes marked increases in aldosterone secretion in primary aldosteronism and little change in secondary aldosteronism. The low plasma renin activity of primary aldosteronism and the elevated plasma renin activity of secondary aldosteronism are thought to account for this differential response.

Possible Underlying Mechanisms Responsible for Aldosterone and Mineralocorticoid Receptor–Dependent Renal Injury

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2008
There is increasing evidence indicating the roles of aldosterone and mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) in the pathogenesis of renal injury. In rats, chronic treatment with aldosterone and salt results in severe proteinuria and renal tissue injury ...

Contemporary management of pain in cirrhosis: Toward precision therapy for pain

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Chronic pain is highly prevalent in patients with cirrhosis and is associated with poor health‐related quality of life and poor functional status. However, there is limited guidance on appropriate pain management in this population, and pharmacologic treatment can be harmful, leading to adverse outcomes, such as gastrointestinal bleeding ...

MDR-1 C3435T polymorphism may affect blood pressure in resistant hypertensive patients independently of its effects on aldosterone release

open access: yes, 2020
Aldosterone increases plasma volume and may be involved with resistant hypertension. P-glycoprotein is a transporter involved in the distribution and disposition of aldosterone, and is encoded by the MDR-1 gene.

THE GENDER FEATURES OF THE RENIN-ANGIOTENSIN-ALDOSTERONE SYSTEM IN HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS

open access: yesРациональная фармакотерапия в кардиологии, 2016
Aim. To study the correlation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) activity with the female sex hormone levels and markers of target organ damage in patients with arterial hypertension (HT).Material and methods. Patients with HT (20 men and

HYPER‐RESPONSIVENESS OF ALDOSTERONE TO METOCLOPRAMIDE IN ALDOSTERONISM [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, 1982
Metoclopramide, a dopamine antagonist, stimulates aldosterone secretion in normal man. We studied the response of plasma aldosterone, plasma renin activity, cortisol, sodium, potassium and serum prolactin to a 10‐mg intravenous dose of metoclopramide in six dexamethasone suppressed patients with aldosteronism (four with adrenal adenoma, two with ...
