Changes in Morphology, Metabolism and Composition of Cuticular Wax in Zucchini Fruit During Postharvest Cold Storage

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Cuticle composition is an important economic trait in agriculture, as it is the first protective barrier of the plant against environmental conditions. The main goal of this work was to study the role of the cuticular wax in maintaining the postharvest ...

Stability of clay particle-coated microbubbles in alkanes against dissolution induced by heating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We investigated the dissolution and morphological dynamics of air bubbles in alkanes stabilized by fluorinated colloidal clay particles when subjected to temperature changes.

Degradation of alkanes by bacteria [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, 2009
SummaryPollution of soil and water environments by crude oil has been, and is still today, an important problem. Crude oil is a complex mixture of thousands of compounds. Among them, alkanes constitute the major fraction. Alkanes are saturated hydrocarbons of different sizes and structures.

Induction of alkane hydroxylase proteins by unoxidized alkane in Pseudomonas putida [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1975
In vitro complementation assays have been used to demonstrate the induction of alkane hydroxylase proteins in mutants lacking the ability to convert n-alkanes to their primary alcohols. Purified heptane is an effective inducer in a mutant lacking detectable hydroxylase activity.

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Pig Slurry Fertilization Changes the Pyrolytic Signature of Humic Substances in Calcareous Soil

open access: yesAgronomy
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of progressive pig slurry (PS) rates, applied over a 12-year period, on the molecular composition of soil organic matter in a calcareous soil.

Gibbs Films of Semi-Fluorinated Alkanes at the Surface of Alkane Solutions [PDF]

open access: yesLangmuir, 2002
Adsorbed monolayer phases of semi-fluorinated alkanes F(CF 2 ) 1 2 (CH 2 ) m H with m = 12, 14, 16, and 18 (denoted F 1 2 H m ) at the free surface of their solutions in H 1 2 and H 1 6 solvents (dodecane, bicyclohexyl, and hexadecane) were studied by surface tension measurements and surface-sensitive X-ray techniques. Solutions in the two H 1 2

MET and NF2 alterations confer primary and early resistance to first‐line alectinib treatment in ALK‐positive non‐small‐cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Alectinib resistance in ALK+ NSCLC depends on treatment sequence and EML4‐ALK variants. Variant 1 exhibited off‐target resistance after first‐line treatment, while variant 3 and later lines favored on‐target mutations. Early resistance involved off‐target alterations, like MET and NF2, while on‐target mutations emerged with prolonged therapy.

Change of refractive indices in ternary mixtures containing chlorobenzene + n-hexane + (n-heptane or n-octane) at 298.15 K [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2004
The refractive indices of ternary mixtures of chlorobenzene + n-hexane (n-heptane or n-octane) have been measured at 298.15 K and at atmospheric pressure over the whole composition diagram.
