High Ethylene and Propylene in an Area Dominated by Oil Production

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2020
We measured the spatial distribution and composition of ozone-forming hydrocarbons, alcohols, and carbonyls in Utah’s Uinta Basin during the winter months of 2019 and 2020. The Uinta Basin contains about 10,000 producing oil and gas wells. Snow cover and

Thermodynamics of adsorption of light alkanes and alkenes in single-walled carbon nanotube bundles [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B 79, 165426, 2009, 2016
The thermodynamics of adsorption of light alkanes and alkenes (CH4, C2H6, C2H4, C3H8, and C3H6) in single-walled carbon nanotube bundles is studied by configurational-bias grand canonical Monte Carlo simulation. The bundles consist of uniform nanotubes with diameters in the range 11.0 < D (A) < 18.1, arranged in the usual close-packed hexagonal lattice.

A decatungstate-based Ionic liquid exhibiting very low dielectric constant suitable for acting as solvent and catalyst for oxidation of organic substrates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
In this contribution, a new POM-based ionic liquid, namely (P6,6,6,14)4[W10O32], was fully characterized. Its viscosity and its very low dielectric constant make this hybrid ionic liquid suitable to be used as solvent for organic transformations. As proof of concept, this unique ionic liquid combining solvant and catalyst properties was tested for ...

Hydroxysulfonylation of alkenes: an update

open access: yesRSC Advances, 2021
The direct difunctionalization of alkenes recognized as a straightforward tool for the rapid fabrication of complex molecules and pharmaceutical targets by introducing two different functional groups on adjacent carbon atoms of common alkene moieties.

Cobalt-catalyzed nucleophilic addition of the allylic C(sp3)–H bond of simple alkenes to ketones

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2018
We herein describe a cobalt/Xantphos-catalyzed regioselective addition of simple alkenes to acetophenone derivatives, affording branched homoallylic alcohols in high yields with perfect branch selectivities.

New Acridone- and (Thio)Xanthone-Derived 1,1-Donor–Acceptor-Substituted Alkenes: pH-Dependent Fluorescence and Unusual Photooxygenation Properties

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
A synthetic route to new heterocyclic 1,1-donor–acceptor-substituted alkenes starting with N-methyl-acridone, xanthone, and thioxanthone was investigated, leading to the acridone- and xanthone-derived products methyl 2-methoxy-2-(10-methylacridin-9 (10H)-

Catalytic Enantioselective Addition of Alkylzirconium Reagents to Aliphatic Aldehydes

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
A catalytic methodology for the enantioselective addition of alkylzirconium reagents to aliphatic aldehydes is reported here. The versatile and readily accessible chiral Ph-BINMOL ligand, in the presence of Ti(OiPr)4 and a zinc salt, facilitates the ...

Enantioselective Hydrocarbamoylation of Alkenes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, 2022
AbstractThe asymmetric hydroaminocarbonylation of olefins represents a straightforward approach for the synthesis of enantioenriched amides, but is hampered by the necessity to employ CO gas, often at elevated pressures. We herein describe, as an alternative, an enantioselective hydrocarbamoylation of alkenes leveraging dual copper hydride and ...
