Visible-light-induced reusable decatungstate-photocatalyzed radical cascade alkylation/cyclization of isocyanides with simple alkanes, ethers and ketones

open access: yesGreen Synthesis and Catalysis
With reusable sodium decatungstate (NaDT) as the photocatalyst, hydrocarbons (alkanes, ethers and ketones) as the alkylating agents, a wide range of alkylated fused N-heterocycles were obtained in high yield.

Câncer e agentes antineoplásicos ciclo-celular específicos e ciclo-celular não específicos que interagem com o DNA: uma introdução Cancer and cell cicle-specific and cell cicle nonspecific anticancer DNA-interactive agents: an introduction

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2005
The chemotherapy agents against cancer may be classified as "cell cycle-specific" or "cell cycle-nonspecific". Nevertheless, several of them have their biological activity related to any kind of action on DNA such as: antimetabolic agents (DNA synthesis ...

Targeting human apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease 1 (APE1) in phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) deficient melanoma cells for personalized therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) loss is associated with genomic instability. APE1 is a key player in DNA base excision repair (BER) and an emerging drug target in cancer.

SIRT5–RAC2 Axis Drives Monocyte‐to‐Macrophage Differentiation to Promote Inflammatory Injury in Premature Ovarian Insufficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SIRT5 desuccinylates and stabilizes RAC2, activating CSF1R‐dependent signaling to drive monocyte differentiation into M0 macrophages and their polarization toward pro‐inflammatory M1 phenotypes in CTX‐induced premature ovarian insufficiency. Inhibiting the SIRT5‐RAC2 axis attenuates inflammation, reduces granulosa cell apoptosis, and preserves ...

Electrochemistry of potentially bioreductive alkylating quinones : Part 1. Electrochemical properties of relatively simple quinones, as model compounds of mitomycin- and aziridinylquinone-type antitumour agents [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The influence of methyl-, hydroxy and amino substituents on the electrochemical behaviour of simple 1,4-naphtho-and 1,4-benzoquinones, model compounds of many quinoid antitumour agents, in aqueous media was studied. Significant changes in electrochemical

Cortical Somatostatin Neurons Regulate Seizure Susceptibility via MINAR1/Gαs–cAMP Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our study identifies MINAR1 as a novel regulator of cortical interneuron excitability and seizure susceptibility. MINAR1 is preferentially expressed in SST+ interneurons. Genetic ablation of MINAR1 leads to seizure hypersensitivity, reduced SST+ neuron excitability, and impaired Gαs–cAMP signaling, disrupting the E/I balance.

Substituted Cysteine Accessibility Method for Topology and Activity Studies of Membrane Enzymes Forming Thioester Acyl Intermediates in Bacteria

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2015
The topology of membrane proteins and enzymes can be determined using various methods including reporter protein fusions and accessibility of cysteine residues to alkylating agents.

Comparison of the efficacy of carboplatin, oxaliplatin and cisplatin, with various concentrations of epidermal growth factor family ligands, in killing human triple-negative breast cancer cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Current breast cancer therapies focus on the use of hormones to control tumor cells. However, triple negative breast cancers (TNBC) lack receptors for the hormones estrogen and progesterone, in addition to the HER-2 protein.
