All-Trans-Retinoic-Acid Unmasking Hypercalcemia of Hyperparathyroidism [PDF]

open access: yesIndian Journal of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, 2015
We present a patient of acute promyelocytic leukaemia managed with all-trans-retinoic-acid and arsenic trioxide who developed hypercalcemia with target organ damage. The patient also was simultaneously discovered to be symptomatic from hyperparathyroidism, which was unmasked after ATRA administration.

HPLC-MS/MS analysis of the products generated from all-trans-retinoic acid using recombinant human CYP26A

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2002
Two mammalian hCYP26A expression systems have been used to analyze the metabolic products of CYP26A. Through the use of extensive HPLC, UV spectroscopy, and liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) methodology, we have conclusively ...

An atypical promyelocytic sarcoma and pleural effusion in a patient with Gorham's disease: Efficiency of ATRA/ATO‐based treatment

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2023
Key Clinical Message This is the first case of a promyelocytic sarcoma diagnosed on pleural effusion and exposed the difficulty of demonstrating a leukemic phase in patients with bone diseases, such as Gorham's disease.

All trans retinoic acid in acute promyelocytic leukemia [PDF]

open access: yesOncogene, 2001
All trans retinoic acid (ATRA) is able to induce complete remission (CR) in almost all patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) through in vivo differentiation of APL blasts. However, it cannot eliminate the leukemic clone and to be effective must be used in combination with anthracycline-based chemotherapy. Experience accumulated over the last

Pseudotumor cerebri presenting with visual failure in promyelocytic leukemia: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2012
Introduction Pseudotumor cerebri secondary to all-trans retinoic acid in acute promyelocytic leukemia is a reported but rare complication of the therapy. Most cases improve following the discontinuation of all-trans retinoic acid.

Methylation of the Gpat2 promoter regulates transient expression during mouse spermatogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Spermatogenesis is a highly regulated process that involves both mitotic and meiotic divisions, as well as cellular differentiation to yield mature spermatozoa from undifferentiated germinal stem cells.

All-Trans Retinoic Acid Induces DU145 Cell Cycle Arrest through Cdk5 Activation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
All-trans retinoic acid (ATRA), the active form of vitamin A, plays an important role in the growth arrest of numerous types of cancer cells. It has been indicated that cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5) activity can be affected by ATRA treatment.

Metabolic interactions between vitamin A and conjugated linoleic acid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Lipid-soluble molecules share several aspects of their physiology due to their common adaptations to a hydrophilic environment, and may interact to regulate their action in a tissue-specific manner.

Genital vasculitis secondary to all-trans-retinoic-acid [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2016
Acute promyelocytic leukaemia is among the most curable haematological malignancies after the introduction of differentiating agents (arsenic trioxide (ATO) and all-trans-retinoic-acid (ATRA)). Despite excellent cure rates, approaching 85–95% in various series, APL is associated with significant early mortality and morbidity.

Gene mutations and response to treatment with all-trans retinoic acid in elderly patients with acute myeloid leukemia. Results from the AMLSG Trial AML HD98B

open access: yesHaematologica, 2009
Background In a previous randomized trial, AML HD98B, we showed that administration of all-trans retinoic acid in addition to intensive chemotherapy improved the outcome of older patients with acute myeloid leukemia.
