Identification of kernel proteins associated with the resistance to fusarium head blight in winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Numerous potential components involved in the resistance to Fusarium head blight (FHB) in cereals have been indicated, however, our knowledge regarding this process is still limited and further work is required.

Performance of immobilized bacterial alpha-amylases in methyltriethoxsilane / tetraetoxysilane sol-gel matrices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The large number of studies related to the field of biomolecules encapsulation in sol-gel hosts clearly indicates that this approach can be considered as a powerful alternative to traditional encapsulation procedures involving biopolymer hosts.

A statistical approach for the production of thermostable and alklophilic alpha-amylase from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens KCP2 under solid-state fermentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The bacterial strain producing thermostable, alklophilic alpha-amylase was identified as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens KCP2 using 16S rDNA gene sequencing data (NCBI Accession No: KF112071).

Fermented Lacticaseibacillus Paracasei Cultures Ameliorate Colitis by Modulating Microbiota‐Derived Tryptophan Metabolism and Macrophage Polarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A solid‐state fermented probiotic (PYW) is developed using wheat bran as substrate, containing high viable Lacticaseibacillus paracasei and bioactive metabolites. PYW alleviates intestinal inflammation by gut microbiota composition, enriching indole derivatives, activating aryl hydrocarbon receptor signaling, and regulating macrophage polarization. PYW

IL‐4/STAT6‐signaling Influences Local Inflammation and Regeneration Processes During Acute Pancreatitis and Promotes Fibrosis by a Direct Activation of Pancreatic Fibroblasts During Chronic Pancreatitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IL‐4/IL‐13/STAT6 signaling plays a crucial for the suppression of pro‐inflammation during acute pancreatitis and supports acinar cell regeneration but has only minor impact on fibrogenesis during chronic form of the disease. IL‐4/IL‐13 induce the expression of certain collagens directly in pancreatic fibroblasts via STAT6 activation, whereas ...

Degree-Based Topological Indices of Polysaccharides: Amylose and Blue Starch-Iodine Complex

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, 2021
Starch is a polymer of glucose where alpha-linkages are associated with glucopyranose units. It comprises a mixture of amylose and amylopectin. Furthermore, amylose is a linear chain of hundreds of glucose molecules.

Inhibition of Calcium‐Dependent Lipid Droplets Relocation of ACSL4‐PKCβ‐ALOX15 Complex Alleviates Ferroptosis and Acute Pancreatitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies L‐type calcium channel blockers as novel ferroptosis inhibitors. It reveals that PKCβ, activated in calcium dependent manner, phosphorylates and activates ACSL4 and ALOX15, relocating them to lipid droplets to promote lethal lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis.
