Immobilization and mineralization of nitrogen in pasture soil

open access: yes, 1972
The results obtained from turf samples indicate that growing plants are mainly responsible for the accumulation of soil organic nitrogenous compounds.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Seasonal Comparison of Lipid Composition and Metabolism in Parasitised and Non-Parasitised Clover Root Weevil (Sitona lepidus)

open access: yes, 2014
Since its arrival in New Zealand the clover root weevil (Sitona lepidus (syn. flavescens) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) (CRW) has caused serious damage to New Zealand’s agricultural sector. The introduction of the biocontrol agent, Microctonus aethiopoides

Genome-wide analysis of coding DNA and amino acid variation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

open access: yes, 2008
The possible causes of variation on amino acid composition in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae were investigated genome-wide. The results indicated that: (a) the base composition of coding DNA and amino acid composition was similar among all the ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Primary structure and glycosylation of the S-layer protein of Haloferax volcanii

open access: yes, 1990
The outer surface of the archaebacterium Haloferax volcanii (formerly named Halobacterium volcanii) is covered with a hexagonally packed surface (S) layer. The gene coding for the S-layer protein was cloned and sequenced.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Evaluation on Amino Acid Composition and Nutritional Value from Different Walnut Varieties

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
In this study, nine varieties of walnut nuts were used as test materials to determine the amino acid composition and content, calculate their nutritional value scores, and conduct principal component analysis and cluster analysis to comprehensively ...
