Folding of a single domain protein entering the endoplasmic reticulum precedes disulfide formation [PDF]
The relationship between protein synthesis, folding and disulfide formation within the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is poorly understood. Previous studies have suggested pre-existing disulfide links are absolutely required to allow protein folding and ...

MVP Inhibits Influenza A Virus‐Induced Ferroptosis by Targeting IRF1 and Increasing FSP1 Activity
During IAV infection, MVP inhibits IRF1 polyubiquitination, thereby relieving IRF1‐mediated transcriptional inhibition of FSP1. Consequently, this leads to an upregulation of FSP1 expression, thereby reinforcing the inhibition of ferroptosis. In addition, the MVP can promote myristoylation and ubiquitination of FSP1, enabling its membrane localization ...

Novel insights into the somatic proteome of Strongyloides stercoralis infective third-stage larvae
Background Strongyloidiasis is a neglected tropical disease affecting an estimated 600 million people, particularly in resource-limited settings. The infection can persist lifelong due to unusual auto-infective cycle of Strongyloides stercoralis.

To address multidrug‐resistant urinary tract infections (MDR‐UTIs), we developed Cu‐ZIF8‐Ru nanozyme featuring an asymmetric Cu─N─Ru catalytic site. This unique structure enhances multienzyme‐mimetic activity, eradicating resistant bacteria by inducing a cuproptosis‐like death pathway through intracellular Cu2+ accumulation and energy depletion.

Rapid Proteome‐Wide Discovery of Protein–Protein Interactions With ppIRIS
ppIRIS is a lightweight deep learning framework for proteome‐wide protein–protein interaction prediction directly from sequence. By fusing evolutionary and structural embeddings with a regularized Siamese architecture, ppIRIS achieves state‐of‐the‐art accuracy across species, enables minute‐scale screening, and reveals biologically validated bacterial ...

Understanding protein sequence–function relationships remains challenging due to poorly defined motifs and limited residue‐level annotations. An annotation‐agnostic framework is introduced that segments protein sequences into “protein words” using attention patterns from protein language models.

The effect of different frequencies of ultrasound on the activity of horseradish peroxidase [PDF]
Ultrasound technology has been studied by food researchers as an alternative method for thermal processing. The use of ultrasound as a way to inactivate and/or activate enzymes has been widely studied at low frequencies (20–40 kHz), however, little ...
