Human Gut Bacteria and Lipidic Nanoparticles: Particle Composition Predicts Structural Transformation and Bacterial Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipidic nanoparticles (LNPs) were incubated with 21 gut bacteria frequently associated with the human microbiome. SAXS revealed that ∼75% of tested species induced structural transformations in monoolein LNPs, whereas phytantriol and phospholipid formulations remained unaffected.

Depletion of branched‐chain aminotransferase 2 (BCAT2) enzyme impairs myoblast survival and myotube formation

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2019
Much is known about the positive effects of branched‐chain amino acids (BCAA) in regulating muscle protein metabolism. Comparatively much less is known about the effects of these amino acids and their metabolites in regulating myotube formation.

Role of symbiotic auxotrophy in the Rhizobium-legume symbioses.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
BackgroundRhizobium leguminosarum bv. viciae mutants unable to transport branched-chain amino acids via the two main amino acid ABC transport complexes AapJQMP and BraDEFGC produce a nitrogen starvation phenotype when inoculated on pea (Pisum sativum ...

Branched-chain amino acid metabolism in cancer

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Clinical Nutrition & Metabolic Care, 2018
The current review aims to provide an update on the recent biomedical interest in oncogenic branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) metabolism, and discusses the advantages of using BCAAs and expression of BCAA-related enzymes in the treatment and diagnosis of cancers. An accumulating body of evidence demonstrates that BCAAs are essential nutrients for cancer ...

Bioinspired Mechanically Robust Organic–Inorganic Hybridized Bio‐Adhesives With up to 50% Inorganic Components by Bi‐Continuous Phase Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A robust plant protein adhesive was prepared by fabricating a bi‐continuous organic–inorganic hybrid structure. Compared with traditional organic–inorganic hybrid adhesives, the addition amount of inorganic phase is increased from 0.2%–3.0% to 50%, and the strength and toughness are increased by 6 and 121 times, respectively.

The compositions of branched-chain amino acids and aromatic amino acids in medium.

open access: yes, 2013
aBranched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) comprise three essential amino acids: valine (Val), leucine (Leu), and isoleucine (Ile).bAromatic amino acids (AAAs) contain two amino acids: tyrosine (Tyr) and phenylalanine (Phe).cFischer's ratio is defined as the ...

Branched-Chain Amino Acids and Brain Function [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Nutrition, 2005
Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) influence brain function by modifying large, neutral amino acid (LNAA) transport at the blood-brain barrier. Transport is shared by several LNAAs, notably the BCAAs and the aromatic amino acids (ArAAs), and is competitive.

Interplay Between Diet, Branched-Chain Amino Acids, and Myokines in Children: Vegetarian Versus Traditional Eating Habits

open access: yes
Background/Objectives: The quality and composition of dietary proteins are crucial during growth, particularly in children who follow vegetarian diets. Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs: leucine, isoleucine, and valine) and lysine play essential roles in

Affinity‐Tuned Albumin Hitchhiking Extends the Bioorthogonal Capture Window in Pretargeting Radiotheranostics

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Pharmacokinetic engineering of clickable radioligands was achieved via albumin hitchhiking approach within a pretargeted radiotheranostics delivery platform. This approach reduced rapid renal elimination, expanded bioorthogonal capture window, boosted tumor uptake by ∼3.5‐fold, and improved the tumor‐to‐liver ratio by ∼6‐fold.
