Zinc Treatment Reverses and anti-Zn-Regulated miRs Suppress Esophageal Carcinomas In Vivo [PDF]
Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is a deadly disease with few prevention or treatment options. ESCC development in humans and rodents is associated with Zn deficiency (ZD), inflammation, and overexpression of oncogenic microRNAs: miR-31 and miR ...

Biosynthesis of 4-Aminobutyrate aminotransferase [PDF]
Mitochondrial 4-aminobutyrate aminotransferase was synthesized in a cell-free reticulocyte lysate using polysomal RNA isolated from pig brain. Its primary translation product has a higher molecular mass than the mature enzyme. The difference in relative molecular mass is approximately 2000 as revealed by SDS/polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.

4‐Aminobutyrate Aminotransferase Fluorescence Studies [PDF]
The kinetics of resolution of the pyridoxamine phosphate form of the enzyme 4‐aminobutyrate aminotransferase were monitored by fluorescence spectroscopy. 2 mol pyridoxamine phosphate are released/mol enzyme, indicating that two molecules of cofactor are involved in catalysis.

Studies of Encystment and Germination in Azotobacter Vinelandii [PDF]
Light and electron microscopy were employed to study the encystment and germination processes in Azotobacter. Data obtained from frozen-etched replicas and chemically fixed cells revealed that as encystment occurs, the cells become rounded, and lose ...

The Biosynthesis of Opine Metallophores [PDF]
Metal acquisition is a necessity for all cells as metals are essential for the function of numerous metalloproteins and metalloenzymes. Bacterial pathogens employ several strategies for obtaining necessary metal including the direct import of metal ions,

Rotational dynamics of 4‐aminobutyrate aminotransferase [PDF]
The fluorescence dye 1‐anilinonaphthalene‐8‐sulfonate (ANS) was used as a probe of non‐polar binding sites in 4‐aminobutyrate aminotransferase. ANS binds to a single binding site of the dimeric protein with a K d of 6 μM. Nanosecond emission anisotropy measurements were performed on the ANS‐enzyme in an effort to detect independent rotation of the ...

4‐Aminobutyrate aminotransferase (GABA‐transaminase) deficiency
Abstract4‐Aminobutyrate aminotransferase (GABA‐transaminase, GABA‐T, EC 2.6.1.19) deficiency (McKusick 137150), an inborn error of GABA degradation, has until now been documented in only a single Flemish child. Compared to the other defects of GABA degradation, succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase (SSADH, EC 1.2.1.24) deficiency with >150 patients ...

Investigating the biosynthetic potential of an Antarctic soil through metagenomics, cultivation, and heterologous expression [PDF]
The growing problem of antibiotic resistance has led to the exploration of uncultured bacteria as sources of new antimicrobials. Metagenomic sequencing studies of samples from different environments have reported evidence of high biosynthetic gene ...
