The Estimation of Para-Aminosalicylic Acid
Summary A comparative study of the existing methods of estimation of p-aminosalicylic acid and its compounds has been made and some of their defects pointed out. A method based on both decarboxylation and diazotisation is proposed and its advantages over the existing methods pointed out by a comparative study.

Pyrazinoic acid is the active form of pyrazinamide, a first-line antibiotic used to treat Mycobacterium tuberculosis infections. However, the mechanism of action of pyrazinoic acid remains a subject of debate, and alternatives to pyrazinamide in cases of

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) pathogenesis remains unclear. This study reveals that thymus‐originated IL‐7R‐enriched extracellular vesicles exacerbate colitis by promoting neutrophil extracellular traps via a thymus‐gut axis, uncovering an inter‐organ communication mechanism in inflammatory bowel disease pathogenesis.

A thermo‐responsive rectal delivery platform integrating probiotic‐derived extracellular vesicles within a hyaluronic acid‐based copolymer enables localized and sustained therapy for ulcerative colitis. The formulation effectively suppresses inflammation, promotes macrophage polarization toward a regenerative phenotype, restores epithelial barrier ...

In macrophages, senkyunolide I (SEI) directly targets the K12 residue of VDAC1 to inhibit its stress‐induced oligomerization, a critical upstream event that effectively prevents mitochondrial DNA release and subsequent cGAS‐STING pathway activation.

ABSTRACT Aim Stoma creation is often required in Crohn's disease (CD), most commonly because of progressive anorectal disease. As stoma closure strongly influences long‐term quality of life and surgical decision‐making, this study evaluated the indications and long‐term outcomes of stoma creation in patients with CD.

In this review, we critically summarized the application of natural polysaccharides (NPs) for the treatment of IBD. This approach combines, in a unique way (right), the basic structure–activity relationships of NPs from different origins (left) with their multipronged mode of action, which involves modulation of the gut microbiota and other ...

Abstract Objectives Exclusive enteral nutrition (EEN) is the first‐line treatment for pediatric Crohn's disease, but its mechanisms of action remain poorly understood. Our aim was to identify the mechanisms that could explain the anti‐inflammatory effects of EEN, studying the nutritional composition and transforming growth factor‐β (TGF‐β) effects, in ...

Antitubercular potential and pH‐driven mode of action of salicylic acid derivatives
In the search for new antituberculosis drugs with novel mechanisms of action, we evaluated the antimycobacterial activity of a panel of eight phenolic acids against four pathogenic mycobacterial model species, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
