Research progress on geogenic-contaminated high ammonium groundwater

open access: yesShuiwen dizhi gongcheng dizhi
Groundwater nitrogen contamination is one of the most prevalent water environment problems worldwide. For a long time, the high concentration of ammonium in groundwater has been attributed to inputs from various human activities.

Removal of nitrogen and phosphorus from water by sludge-based biochar modified by montmorillonite coupled with nano zero-valent iron

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2022
Biochar prepared by thermal decomposition of sewage sludge is a new adsorbent for sludge resource utilization and aquatic environmental treatment. In this study, sewage sludge was used as raw material for the preparation of pyrolysis sludge-based biochar.

A catalyst-coated diaphragm assembly to improve the performance and energy efficiency of alkaline water electrolysers

open access: yesCommunications Engineering
Alkaline water electrolysers are ideal for gigawatt-scale hydrogen production due to the usage of non-precious metal and low-cost raw materials. However, their performances are modest with the separated electrode and diaphragm structure which can date ...

Nessler Method Verification for Determining Ammonia in Shrimp Pond Wastewater and Its Application in the Ammonia Adsorption Test with Lampung Natural Zeolite

open access: yesAlchemy
Ammonia levels exceeding 0.50 mg/L can threaten organisms in aquatic environments. The Nessler method is one of the ammonia analysis methods based on the reaction between ammonia in a basic solution and Nessler reagent (K2HgI4), forming a colloidal ...

Anthocyanin Production through Callus Culture of Apple: Effect of Nitrogen Source and Concentration of Magnesium [PDF]

open access: yesمجله بیوتکنولوژی کشاورزی, 2015
Anthocyanins have attracted a great deal of attention due to their capability in protecting humans from chronic diseases. Production of natural anthocyanins from fresh plant material has many limitations. Therefore, the use of plant biotechnology for the

C9orf72 ALS‐causing mutations lead to mislocalization and aggregation of nucleoporin Nup107 into stress granules

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutations in the C9orf72 gene represent the most common genetic cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a fatal neurodegenerative disease. Using patient‐derived neurons and C. elegans models, we find that the nucleoporin Nup107 is dysregulated in C9orf72‐associated ALS. Conversely, reducing Nup107 levels mitigates disease‐related changes.

Factors affecting ammonium uptake in streams - an inter-biome perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The Lotic Intersite Nitrogen experiment (LINX) was a coordinated study of the relationships between North American biomes and factors governing ammonium uptake in streams. Our objective was to relate inter-biome variability of ammonium uptake to physical,

Influence of pre-crop and root architecture on the mobilization of non-exchangeable NH4+

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2014
It is well established that non-exchangeable NH4+ is an important N source for plants. However, release from clay minerals only occurs when the NH4+ concentration of the mineral environment declines below a certain level.
