Amyloid-related imaging abnormalities in patients with Alzheimer's disease treated with bapineuzumab: a retrospective analysis [PDF]

open access: yesLancet Neurology, The, 2012
Amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA) have been reported in patients with Alzheimer's disease treated with bapineuzumab, a humanised monoclonal antibody against amyloid β. ARIA include MRI signal abnormalities suggestive of vasogenic oedema and sulcal effusions (ARIA-E) and microhaemorrhages and haemosiderin deposits (ARIA-H).

Amyloid‐related imaging abnormalities (ARIA): diagnosis, management, and care in the setting of amyloid‐modifying therapy [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology
Amyloid‐related imaging abnormalities, were originally described by dementia care experts. The wider use of aducanumab and now lecanemab warrant broader understanding by the health care provider continuum.

The Use of Portable MRI in the Detection and Monitoring of Amyloid‐Related Imaging Abnormalities [PDF]

open access: yesAlzheimers Dement
Abstract Background Lecanemab is an anti‐beta‐amyloid immunotherapy approved by the FDA in 2023 for Alzheimer's Disease (AD). One known side effect is the development of amyloid‐related imaging abnormalities (ARIA), manifesting as cerebral edema (ARIA‐E), or microhemorrhage with siderosis (ARIA‐

Zooming in on Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy in the Context of Amyloid-Related Imaging Abnormalities [PDF]

open access: yesInnov Aging
Abstract The significance of cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) has been heightened since anti-amyloid therapies were approved. Amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA) are a major side effect of anti-amyloid therapies, and CAA is the major risk factor for ARIA. CAA is highly prevalent in Alzheimer’s disease, and both are driven by

Ischemic stroke associated with amyloid-related imaging abnormalities in a patient treated with lecanemab. [PDF]

open access: yesAlzheimers Dement
AbstractINTRODUCTIONAnti‐amyloid antibody therapies such as lecanemab are increasingly being used to treat Alzheimer's disease (AD). These therapies are associated with a high rate of amyloid‐related imaging abnormalities (ARIA).METHODSWe review the case history of a patient who developed ARIA associated with lecanemab treatment.RESULTSIn addition to ...

ED care and Amyloid‐Related Imaging Abnormalities ‐ Impact and Future research [PDF]

open access: yesAlzheimers Dement
AbstractWith the approval of disease modifying treatments for Alzheimer’s Disease, the practice of dementia care and treatment has changed. Amyloid related imaging changes, are the most common adverse effects of these types of drugs. There is limited guidance across multiple specialties on how to recognize and manage these changes in a dementia patient
