Lipoxygenase Inhibitory Activity of 6-Pentadecanylsalicylic Acid without Prooxidant Effect

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2010
6-Pentadecanylsalicylic acid, referred to as anacardic acid (C 15:0 ), was found to inhibit the linoleic acid peroxidation competitively catalyzed by soybean lipoxygenase-1 (EC 1.13.11.12, Type 1) with an IC 50 of 14.3 μM (4.88 μg/mL). This inhibition is

Synthesis of a Grease Thickener from Cashew Nut Shell Liquor

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
Thickener, also known as a gelling agent, is a critical component of lubricating greases. The most critical property of thickener, temperature resistance, is determined by the molecular structure of the compounds.

Characterization of xanthine oxidase inhibition by anacardic acids

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Basis of Disease, 2004
Anacardic acid, 6[8(Z), 11(Z), 14-pentadecatrienyl]salicylic acid, inhibits generation of superoxide radicals by xanthine oxidase. This inhibition does not follow a hyperbolic inhibition, depends on anacardic acid concentrations, but follows a sigmoidal inhibition. The inhibition was analyzed by using a Hill equation, and slope factor and EC(50) were 4.

Zoosporicidal Activities of Anacardic Acids against Aphanomyces cochlioides [PDF]

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung C, 2002
The EtOAc soluble constituents of the unripe fruits of Ginkgo biloba showed motility inhibition followed by lysis of zoospores of the phytopathogenic Aphanomyces cochlioides. We purified 22:1-ω7-anacardic acid (1), 24:1-ω9-anacardic acid (2) and 22:0-anacardic acid (3), together with other related compounds, 21:1-ω7-cardol (4) and 21:1-ω7-cardanol (5 ...

Evaluation of Lipoxygenase Inhibitory Activity of Anacardic Acids

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung C, 2008
6-Alkylsalicylic acids inhibit the linoleic acid peroxidation catalyzed by soybean lipoxygenase- 1 (EC 1.13.11.12, type 1) competitively and without pro-oxidant effects. This activity is largely dependent on the nature of their alkyl side chains. Inhibitory activities of anacardic acids, viz.
