Angiotensin I-converting enzyme in the nephron

Abstract Goat antibody to swine kidney angiotensin I-converting enzyme was coupled to fluorescein isothiocyanate and was used to react with the converting enzyme in slices of swine kidney. Converting enzyme was present throughout the nephron and was concentrated in the convoluted tubules, especially in the proximal tubule.

ABSTRACT A simple procedure for a reproducible preparation of radioiodinated angiotensin analogues is described. The iodination is performed at a low level of radioactivity – 200 μCi per 10 μg peptide – with low concentrations of chloramine-T and sodium metabisulphite. No destruction of the peptide occurs during the iodination.

Angiotensin I, angiotensin II and their biologically active peptides

Several peptides of the RAS other than angiotensin (1-8) have been identified. They are generally referred as 'angiotensin fragments': Ang (2-8), Ang (3-8) and Ang (1-7) and have been detected in human tissues. There is evidence that they may play a functional role in humans by acting in concert with angiotensin (1-8) and aldosterone.
