Angiotensin II antagonists

open access: yesRevista Cubana de Cardiología y Cirugía Cardiovascular, 2014
The angiotensin II antagonists, a new group of drugs, block in a selective way AT receptors, causing vasodilatation, increase of renin and of angiotensin II, reduction of peripheral resistance, of the aldosterone levels, and of blood pressure without ...

DIOL triterpenes block profibrotic effects of angiotensin II and protect from cardiac hypertrophy.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
BackgroundThe natural triterpenes, erythrodiol and uvaol, exert anti-inflammatory, vasorelaxing and anti-proliferative effects. Angiotensin II is a well-known profibrotic and proliferative agent that participates in the cardiac remodeling associated with

Screening and Identification of Novel DNA Aptamer for Targeted Delivery to Injured Podocytes in Glomerular Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops RLS‐2, a high‐affinity aptamer that specifically targets injured podocytes, making it a promising candidate for targeted drug delivery. In vitro, RLS‐2 shows stability, specificity, efficient siRNA delivery via AsiCs, and uptake by podocytes.

Molecular targeting therapy with angiotensin II receptor blocker for prostatic cancer

open access: yesOncology Reviews, 2011
Angiotensin II (Ang-II) plays a key role as a vasoconstrictor in controlling blood pressure and electrolyte/fluid homeostasis. Recently it has also been shown that this peptide is a cytokine, acting as a growth factor in cardiovascular and stromal cells.

Endothelial Vasodilator Angiotensin Receptors are Changing in Mice with Ageing

open access: yesResearch in Molecular Medicine, 2014
Background: The vascular function of Angiotensin II-type-2 receptors in adults is controversial. We sought their location and function in mouse aortic rings at young and old mice.

Zebrafish Model to Study Angiotensin II-Mediated Pathophysiology

open access: yesBiology, 2021
Hypertension, a common chronic condition, may damage multiple organs, including the kidney, heart, and brain. Thus, it is essential to understand the pathology upon ectopic activation of the molecular pathways involved in mammalian hypertension to ...

SARS-CoV-2 mortality in blacks and temperature-sensitivity to an angiotensin-2 receptor blocker [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Tropical climates provoke adaptations in skin pigmentation and in mechanisms controlling the volume, salt-content and pressure of body fluids. For many whose distant ancestors moved to temperate climes, these adaptations proved harmful: pigmentation decreased by natural selection and susceptibility to hypertension emerged.

Single‐Cell Atlas Reveals Tumorigenic Profiles and Immune Dynamics of Adrenal Incidentalomas

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing reveals cellular heterogeneity in adrenal incidentalomas, identifying distinct tumor cell populations. Clusterin is recognized as a biomarker for adrenocortical tumors, correlating with established markers. MYCN‐positive clusters in pheochromocytomas indicated poorer survival.

Statin treatment in hypercholesterolemic men does not attenuate angiotensin II-induced venoconstriction. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Experimental studies suggested that statins attenuate vascular AT1 receptor responsiveness. Moreover, the augmented excessive pressor response to systemic angiotensin II infusions in hypercholesterolemic patients was normalized with statin treatment.

Low Dose Chronic Angiotensin II Induces Selective Senescence of Kidney Endothelial Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2021
Angiotensin II can cause oxidative stress and increased blood pressure that result in long term cardiovascular pathologies. Here we evaluated the contribution of cellular senescence to the effect of chronic exposure to low dose angiotensin II in a model ...
