Theoretical analysis of anion exclusion and diffusive transport through platy-clay soils [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Diffusive transport through geosynthetic clay liners and engineered compacted clay landfill liners is the primary mechanism for mass transport from well-engineered modern landfills.

Measuring anion transport selectivity: a cautionary tale [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
pH-dependent liposomal assays are often used to determine anion selectivity in transmembrane anion transport experiments. We discuss the validity and limitations of these assays, and provide guidelines for their use to avoid misleading ...

CLC gene family in Solanum lycopersicum: genome-wide identification, expression, and evolutionary analysis of tomato in response to salinity and Cd stress

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
IntroductionChloride channels (CLCs) play critical roles in anion transport, stress adaptation, and ion homeostasis in plants. Whereas their genomic wide indentification and functional divergence in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) remain largely unexplored.

Curcumin Protects -SH Groups and Sulphate Transport after Oxidative Damage in Human Erythrocytes

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2015
Background/Aims: Erythrocytes, continuously exposed to oxygen pressure and toxic compounds, are sensitive to oxidative stress, namely acting on integral Band 3 protein, with consequences on cell membranes deformability and anion transport efficiency. The

Ionic Liquid in Li Salt Electrolyte: Modifying the Li+ Transport Mechanism by Coordination to an Asymmetric Anion

open access: yesAdvanced Energy & Sustainability Research, 2021
In binary ionic liquid/Li salt electrolytes for lithium‐ion batteries the use of asymmetric anions reduces the tendency for crystallization and enables liquid systems with high Li concentration.

Characterisation and validation of drug transport and GLP-1R function in primary porcine proximal tubular cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Overview kidney: Kidney is, beside the liver, one of the most important organs for the elimination of waste products, toxins, drugs and their metabolites. Due to the anatomy of the kidney, ultra filtrate leaving the glomerulus passes first the proximal

Ion Transport Characteristics in Membranes for Direct Formate Fuel Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
Ion exchange membranes are widely used in fuel cells to physically separate two electrodes and functionally conduct charge-carrier ions, such as anion exchange membranes and cation exchange membranes.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Anion transport with anion-π interactions and halogen bonds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Anion-π interactions and halogen bonds are applied to anion transport through lipids bilayer membranes. Calix[4]arenes and calix[4]pyrroles scaffolds, and minimalist π-acidic naphthalenediimides were explored for anion transport.
