Brazilian Biomes as Promising Resources of Rhodotorula Yeasts for the Biotechnological Production of Carotenoids

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 22, Issue 10, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Yeasts belonging to the genus Rhodotorula are capable of synthesizing carotenoids, such as β‐carotene, γ‐carotene, torulene, torularodine, and astaxanthin. These carotenoids have been shown to offer health benefits to humans, such as immune system strengthening and a reduced risk of chronic degenerative diseases.

Coloured polyhydroxyalkanoates: A review

open access: yesColoration Technology, Volume 141, Issue 5, Page 603-620, October 2025.
Abstract Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are a class of biopolymers produced by various microorganisms, with poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate) being the most extensively studied. PHAs are widely studied as substitutes for conventional plastics due to their similar physicochemical properties. However, the production cost of PHAs remains high.

Utilizing Lentil Proteins and Flours for Sustainable Encapsulation and Techno‐Functional Applications in Food Technology

open access: yesLegume Science, Volume 7, Issue 3, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Encapsulation involves forming a thin layer around the core material to separate it from the surrounding environment physically. It is widely used in various industries to provide protection core materials, manipulate release properties, mask undesired sensory properties, immobilize compounds, and to construct a structure to hold the material.
