Experimental study of a potential anti-asthmatic agent: SCH 15280.

The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 1975
A forced oscillations technique for measuring total respiratory system resistance was used to quantitate the bronchomotor activity of Sch 15280: (5[4-(N-methyl)-piperidylidine]5H-[1]-benzopyrano[2,3,b]-pyridine maleate) and to compare its potency to that of standard bronchodilator agents.

Protective Effect of a New Anti‐Asthmatic Agent (Minocromil) in Bronchial Allergen Challenge Tests

Allergy, 1985
Ten patients were included in a double‐blind crossover trial, designed to compare the effects of a new anti‐asthmatic agent Minocromil, an organic decarboxylic acid, and placebo on bronchial allergen challenge. The challenges were performed at weekly intervals.

Effects of different anti‐asthmatic agents on induced sputum and eosinophil cationic protein in mild asthmatics

Respirology, 2004
Objectives:  Inhaled corticosteroids, leukotriene receptor antagonists, and theophylline are recommended for the treatment of mild persistent asthma. The aim of this study was to compare the changes in sputum total cell and eosinophil counts, and eosinophil cationic protein (ECP) levels in serum and sputum following treatment with leukotriene receptor ...

Synthesis and biological evaluation of Ginsenoside Compound K analogues as a novel class of anti-asthmatic agents

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2019
Ginsenoside Compound K (CK) showed potent activity against IgE for the treatment of asthma. A series of CK analogues were then synthesized by straightforward procedures. The in vivo anti-IgE activity evaluations using the OVA-induced asthmatic mouse model revealed preliminary SARs of the CK analogues, which showed that the sugar type, modifications on ...

Selection of a 2-azabicyclo[2.2.2]octane-based α4β1 integrin antagonist as an inhaled anti-asthmatic agent

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2006
The alpha4beta1 integrin, expressed on eosinophils and neutrophils, induces inflammation in the lung by facilitating cellular infiltration and activation. From a number of potent alpha4beta1 antagonists that we evaluated for safety and efficacy, 1 was selected as a lead candidate for anti-asthma therapy by the inhalation route.

Discovery of a novel series of α-terpineol derivatives as promising anti-asthmatic agents: Their design, synthesis, and biological evaluation

European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2018
A series of novel α-terpineol derivatives were designed and synthesized through structural derivatization of the tertiary hydroxyl moiety or reduction of the double bond. Of the resulting compounds, eight compounds enhanced relaxation of airway smooth muscle (ASM) compared to the α-terpineol precursor, and four compounds (4a, 4d, 4e, and 4i)were ...

Effects of various anti‐asthmatic agents on mite allergen‐pulsed murine bone marrow‐derived dendritic cells

Clinical & Experimental Allergy, 2005
SummaryBackground Dendritic cells (DCs) play an important role in the immune response and are critically involved in asthma. β2‐agonists could potentially exacerbate type 2 T helper (Th2) cell‐mediated immune response. Objectives To determine the effects of various anti‐asthmatic agents on DCs function both in vitro and in vivo. Methods

Anti-asthmatic agents alleviate pulmonary edema by upregulating AQP1 and AQP5 expression in the lungs of mice with OVA-induced asthma

Respiratory Physiology & Neurobiology, 2012
Ovalbumin (OVA)-induced asthma in mouse lungs causes changes in the mRNA and protein levels of aquaporins (AQPs). AQP expression was examined in the presence of various anti-asthmatic agents, including dexamethasone, ambroxol, and terbutaline. The influence of these agents on OVA-induced airway inflammation was also evaluated.

Salicylic acid derivatives as potential anti asthmatic agents using disease responsive drug delivery system for prophylactic therapy of allergic asthma

Medical Hypotheses, 2016
Asthma is a multi-factorial and complicated lung disorder of the immune system which has expanded to a wider ambit unveiling its etiology to be omnipresent at both ends of the spectrum involving basic pharmacology and in-depth immunology. As asthma occurs through triggered activation of various immune cells due to different stimuli, it poses a great ...

Antagonistic effect of KC-404, a new anti-asthmatic agent, on leukotriene D4-induced contractile responses in isolated guinea pig smooth muscles

Prostaglandins, 1986
The inhibitory effects of KC-404, a novel clinically available anti-asthmatic drug, on leukotriene(LT) D4-, LTC4-, histamine- and acetylcholine(ACh)-induced contractile responses in isolated guinea pig lung parenchymal, tracheal and ileal longitudinal strips were compared using an organ bath system.
