Statin-naïve anti-HMGCR antibody-mediated necrotizing myopathy in China

Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2018
This study aimed to clarify the phenotypes and therapeutic responses of statin-naïve anti-3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR) antibody-mediated necrotizing myopathy. Anti-HMGCR antibodies were tested with ELISA methodology in the sera sample of 98 patients meeting the idiopathic inflammatory myopathy criteria and with negative anti ...

Anti-HMGCR antibody-associated necrotizing myopathy: diagnosis and treatment illustrated using a case report

Scandinavian Journal of Rheumatology, 2016
3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGCR) inhibitors, also known as statins, are widely used for cardiovascular and atherosclerosis disease prevention and therapy.

Anti-HMGCR antibodies can be accurately detected by indirect immunofluorescence on HEp-2000substrate

Pathology
Detection of myositis-specific autoantibodies (MSAs) is important in the diagnosis and subtyping of idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs). Widespread use of the line immunoassay (LIA) for MSA detection has significant limitations due to a high false positive rate.

Anti-HMGCR Antibody Associated Necrotizing Autoimmune Myopathy-A Case-Based Clinical Review

Journal of Clinical and Medical Research, 2019
A 54 years gentleman presented with proximal and distal myopathies with history of statin exposure with persistent symptoms posts statin cessation. CPK ranged from 18000 to 25000 IU/L. Lower limbs MRI showed extensive bilateral muscle oedema consistent with myositis. EMG was consistent with an inflammatory myopathic disease.

[Dermatomyositis-like syndrome revealing statin-induced necrotizing autoimmune myopathy with anti-HMGCR antibodies].

Annales de dermatologie et de venereologie, 2020
Statin-induced necrotizing autoimmune myopathy (NAM) has been recently characterized. Herein we report an accurate description of the clinical and histological characteristics of cutaneous rash associated with NAM.A 61-year-old woman presented a skin rash involving the face, the chest and the back of the hands with heliotropic distribution coupled with

P145 Single-centre experience of managing patients with anti-HMGCR antibody immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy

Rheumatology
Abstract Background/Aims Anti-HMGCR antibodies are associated with a rare form of immune mediated necrotizing myopathy. Statin exposure is common, but statin-naïve presentations can occur. Given its rarity, optimal treatment regimes, alternative cholesterol lowering therapy, and implications of ...

From Serendipity to Science: How Anti-HMGCR Antibodies Changed Our Understanding of Myositis

The Journal of Rheumatology
Although statin-induced muscle toxicity was recognized, a subset of patients presented with severe, persistent necrotizing myopathy despite statin withdrawal. Recognized initially through the serendipitous aggregation of cases in the longitudinal myositis cohort at the Johns Hopkins Myositis Center, the anti–3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A ...
