In vitro Anti-trypanosomal Activity of Ethanolic and n-Hexane Extracts of Hymenocardia acida Stem Bark against Trypanosoma brucei brucei and Trypanosoma congolense [PDF]
The development of resistance by trypanosomes to existing trypanocidal drugs necessitates the need to search for safer and more effective alternative drugs with a broad spectrum of activity.

Discovery of Trypanosoma brucei inhibitors enabled by a unified synthesis of diverse sulfonyl fluorides [PDF]
Sets of electrophilic probes are generally prepared using a narrow toolkit of robust reactions, which tends to limit both their structural and functional diversity.

Trypanocidal Effects of Polyprenylated Benzophenone Enriched Brazilian Red Propolis Extract and Its Isolated Constituent. [PDF]
In vitro trypanocidal activity of a polyprenylated benzophenone‐enriched Brazilian red propolis extract (SEBz) and its major constituents, guttiferone E/xanthochymol (GUT/XAN) and oblongifolin B (OBL), exhibit in vitro trypanocidal activity against Trypanosoma cruzi, inducing ultrastructural damage with moderate cytotoxicity and no significant ...

Anti-trypanosomal activity of pentacyclic triterpenes isolated from Austroplenckia populnea (Celastraceae) Atividade anti-tripanosomicida de triterpenes pentacíclicos isolados de Austroplenckia populnea (Celastraceae) [PDF]
Four pentacyclic triterpenes isolated from Austroplenckia populnea and four compounds of known anti T. cruzi or anti-malarial activity were tested. Of those triterpenes tested 20alpha-hydroxy-tingenone showed high activity, epikatonic acid was less ...

Anti-trypanosomal activity of 1,2,3,4,6-penta-O-galloyl-β -D-glucose isolated from Plectranthus barbatus Andrews (Lamiaceae) [PDF]
MeOH extract from the leaves of Plectranthus barbatus Andrews (Lamiaceae), showed in vitro anti-trypanosomal activity. The bioassay-guided fractionation resulted in the isolation of a gallic acid derivative, identified as 1,2,3,4,6-penta-O-galloyl-β-D ...

IN VITRO AND IN VIVO ANTI-TRYPANOSOMAL ACTIVITIES OF METHANOL EXTRACT OF AZADIRACHTA INDICA STEM-BARK [PDF]
Background: Current chemotherapeutic agents for the treatment of African trypanosomiasis have become largely ineffective, necessitating the search for alternative compounds. The objective of this study was to evaluate in vitro anti-trypanosomal activities of methanol extracts of parts of Azadirachta indica against Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense ...

New Tetromycin Derivatives with Anti-Trypanosomal and Protease Inhibitory Activities [PDF]
Four new tetromycin derivatives, tetromycins 1–4 and a previously known one, tetromycin B (5) were isolated from Streptomyces axinellae Pol001T cultivated from the Mediterranean sponge Axinella polypoides. Structures were assigned using extensive 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy as well as HRESIMS analysis.

In vitro Anti-Trypanosomal Activities of Indanone-Based Chalcones [PDF]
Human African trypanosomiasis is a neglected infectious disease that affects mostly people living in the rural areas of Africa. Current treatment options are limited to just four drugs that have been in use of four to nine decades. The life-threatening toxic side-effects associated with the use of these drugs are disconcerting.
