Anti‐virulence appraoches to antimicrobial therapy
We are currently entering a challenging new era where microbial resistance to antibiotics will complicate the treatment of nearly all common bacterial infections. The ability to develop new antimicrobials has lagged behind the development of resistance for many life‐threatening bacterial species.

Anti-virulence therapeutic strategies against bacterial infections: recent advances
The emergence and increasing prevalence of multidrug-resistant pathogens has become a major global healthcare problem. According to the World Health Organization if these trends continue, mortality from infection in 2050 will be higher than that from cancer. Microorganisms have various resistance mechanisms against different classes of antibiotics that

An integrated Human Airway Microbiome Gene Catalog (iHAMGC) is constructed from 12,273 metagenomic airway samples, providing a high‐resolution reference of respiratory microbial genes. The catalog enables systematic exploration of taxonomic and functional variation across airway niches and geographic regions, revealing site‐specific and region ...

A “nutritional trap” strategy centered on disrupting bacterial iron homeostasis is proposed. The synthesized Bi‐TP@FU (TBF) can target Helicobacter pylori, interfere with the bacterial iron uptake and utilization processes to disrupt its iron homeostasis, induce bacterial death, and meanwhile preserve the balance of the intestinal flora.

The superbug Pseudomonas aeruginosa is among the most formidable antibiotic-resistant pathogens. With declining options for antibiotic-resistant infections, new medicines are of utmost importance to combat with P. aeruginosa.

Subversion of Atypical Mucin Traps by a Spore‐Coat Effector Blocks Cellular Immunity in Drosophila
While the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium robertsii can evade insect humoral immunity, its subversion of cellular defenses is still elusive. We identify Eac1 as a spore‐coat protein essential for infecting drosophilids by targeting atypical mucins (Sgf1 and Sgf2), which can entrap spores in a gel matrix and thereby facilitate hemocyte encapsulation.

Autoinducers modulation as a potential anti-virulence target of bacteria by phenolic compounds
The goal of this study was to determine the effects of phenolic extracts from grape (GrPE), pomegranate (PoPE), and persimmon (PePE) by-products on bacterial virulence activities such as biofilms, motility, energy-dependent efflux pumps, and β-lactamase activity, which are modulated primarily by quorum sensing (QS), defining their potential ...

Gac two-component system in Pseudomonas syringae pv. tabaci is required for virulence but not for hypersensitive reaction [PDF]
Pseudomonas syringae pv. tabaci 6605 causes wildfire disease on host tobacco plants. To investigate the regulatory mechanism of the expression of virulence, Gac two-Component system-defective mutants, Delta gacA and Delta gacS, and a double mutant, Delta
