Antibiofilm activity of a chionodracine‐derived peptide by NMR‐based metabolomics of cell‐free supernatant of Acinetobacter baumannii clinical strains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KHS‐Cnd peptide is able to impair biofilm formation and disaggregate mature biofilms in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates. Differences in extracellular metabolites reflect changes in biofilm metabolism due to KHS‐Cnd treatment. Among the differentially represented extracellular metabolites upon KHS‐Cnd treatment, the significantly altered ...

ESBL- and pAmpC-producing Enterobacterales from Swedish dogs and cats 2017–2021: a retrospective study

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica
Background Antibiotic resistant bacteria are a threat to both human and animal health. Of special concern are resistance mechanisms that are transmissible between bacteria, such as extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBL) and plasmid-mediated AmpC (pAmpC)

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

Characterization of Enterobacterales growing on selective CPE screening plates with a focus on non-carbapenemase-producing strains

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) are divided into two distinct groups: carbapenemase-producing (CPE) and non-carbapenemase-producing (non-CPE).

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Antibiotics Time Machine is NP-hard [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The antibiotics time machine is an optimization question posed by Mira \latin{et al.} on the design of antibiotic treatment plans to minimize antibiotic resistance. The problem is a variation of the Markov decision process.

Antibody-mediated cross-linking of gut bacteria hinders the spread of antibiotic resistance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The body is home to a diverse microbiota, mainly in the gut. Resistant bacteria are selected for by antibiotic treatments, and once resistance becomes widespread in a population of hosts, antibiotics become useless. Here, we develop a multiscale model of
