On‐farm comparison of aerial and chemigation application methods for Striacosta albicosta (lepidoptera: Noctuidae) management in corn using pyrethroid and diamide insecticides

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Aerial applications deposited more insecticide on tassels than on ear level (36.4% vs. 19.8%). Across both application methods, chlorantraniliprole minimized ear injury, while bifenthrin provided moderate control. Effective management of S. albicosta requires delivering sufficient insecticide concentration to the target site and achieving adequate ...

Effectiveness of model‐based decision tools for disease control in wheat, potato and grapevine: a multilevel meta‐analysis

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Meta‐analysis results indicate that decision tools can provide effective disease control, although their performance may vary among crops. Despite differences, decision tools reduced the Treatment Frequency Index across three crops. Abstract BACKGROUND A multilevel meta‐analysis was conducted to provide further evidence on the benefits of decision ...

Sclerotinia sclerotiorum: a dual‐purpose biological control agent for weed and disease management in pastures and cereal crops

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
A hypervirulent, endophytic, non‐sclerotial strain of the fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum has enormous potential as a dual‐purpose bioherbicide/plant vaccine that is biosafe for use in pastures and cereal crops. Abstract The cosmopolitan phytopathogenic fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary infects many dicotyledonous species, including major ...

Rational pesticide design is now more feasible than ever – but what targets and molecules to choose?

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
There are seven criteria to achieve resistance recalcitrant successful pesticides. 1. No alternative targets. 2. Pesticide attacks multiple targets. 3. Low amounts of target in pest. 4. Target domain structually dissimilar to mammalian. 5. Target in sufficient pest spectrum. 6. Avoid catabolically prone scaffolds. 7.

The continuing significance of chiral agrochemicals

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1697-1716, April 2025.
In the time frame 2018–2023, around 43% of the 35 chiral agrochemicals introduced to the market (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, acaricides, and nematicides) contain one or more stereogenic centers in the molecule, and almost 69% of them have been marketed as racemic mixtures of enantiomers or stereoisomers.

Bioactive Natural Products in Cardiovascular Disease: Focus on Thrombotic Events

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
An overview of the role of natural products (NP) in cardiovascular disease prevention, highlighting key mechanisms of action: including antiplatelet, antithrombotic, anti‐inflammatory, and antioxidant effects. Additionally, it illustrates the integration of diet–drug interactions, nutritional epigenetics, and the role of artificial intelligence in ...
