Human platelet antigens frequencies in Maori and Polynesian populations
Transfusion Medicine, 2013SUMMARYBackgroundAllele frequencies of human platelet antigens (HPA) reflect population history and possibility of platelet‐specific alloimmunization. Here, we report on screening of variants at HPA loci for Polynesian and Maori subjects.ObjectivesOur aims are to evaluate new HPA genotyping methods, compile and analyse new HPA datasets for these ...

Noninvasive fetal genotyping of human platelet antigen-1a.
BJOG : an international journal of obstetrics and gynaecology, 2011We describe a reliable noninvasive fetal human platelet antigen (HPA)-1a genotyping assay on a real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) platform using cell-free fetal DNA isolated from maternal blood. Nonspecific amplification of maternal cell-free DNA is overcome by pre-PCR digestion of the cell-free DNA with the Msp1 restriction enzyme.

Human Platelet Antigen Gene Frequencies in the Austrian Population
Pathophysiology of Haemostasis and Thrombosis, 1995Gene frequencies for the human platelet antigen systems HPA-1, -2, -3, and -5 were determined directly from DNA isolated from cord blood of more than 900 randomly selected Caucasoid newborns in Vienna, Austria. Genotyping was performed by specific amplification of the respective regions coding for platelet glycoproteins GP lb, IIb, IIIa, and la by PCR.

Antigenic differences between human platelets and megakaryocytes.
The American journal of pathology, 1987To investigate the apparent paradox in the observation that most patients with immune thrombocytopenias have normal or increased numbers of megakaryocytes (MKs), the extent of antigenic cross-reactivity between normal platelets and MK was examined.

Genotyping of Human Platelet Antigens by BeadChip Microarray Technology
2015Human platelet antigen (HPA) typing plays a critical role in the diagnosis of fetal/neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia, and the prevention of posttransfusion purpura and refractoriness to platelet transfusions. The recent development of high-throughput genotyping methods, allowing simultaneous genotyping of as many as 17 HPAs, is of utmost interest ...
