Interaction of opioids with antidepressant-induced antinociception [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The antinociceptive activity of antidepressant drugs is poorly understood. In this study, using the acetic acid writhing test in mice, the antinociception produced by clomipramine (CLO), maprotiline (MAP), imipramine (IMI), and zimelidine (ZIM) was ...

Adenosine receptor mediates nicotine-induced antinociception in formalin test [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this study, the effect of adenosine receptor agents on nicotine induced antinociception, in formalin test, has been investigated. Intraperitoneal (i.p.) administration of different doses of nicotine (0.1, 1, 10 and 100 μg kg -1) induced a dose ...

Assessment of Mechanisms Involved in Antinociception Produced by the Alkaloid Caulerpine

open access: yesMolecules, 2014
In previous works we showed that oral administration of caulerpine, a bisindole alkaloid isolated from algae of the genus Caulerpa, produced antinociception when assessed in chemical and thermal models of nociception.

Predicting the optimal concentration of remifentanil for skull pin fixation with hemodynamic and analgesia nociception index monitoring

open access: yesScientific Reports
Inadequate antinociception during skull pin fixation may cause hemodynamic instability in intracranial surgery. The optimal concentration of remifentanil to provide adequate antinociception and stable hemodynamics during skull pin fixation under ...

Antinociceptive effects of (+)-matrine in mice

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pharmacology, 1997
The antinociceptive potency of matridin-15-one ((+)-matrine) was examined using the acetic acid-induced abdominal contraction test and the tail-flick test in mice. (+)-Matrine, at doses of 1 to 10 mg/kg, s.c., produced a marked and dose-dependent inhibition of the number of acetic acid-induced abdominal contractions in mice.

Blockade of Cannabinoid CB1 Receptors in the Dorsal Periaqueductal Gray Unmasks the Antinociceptive Effect of Local Injections of Anandamide in Mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2017
Divergent results in pain management account for the growing number of studies aiming at elucidating the pharmacology of the endocannabinoid/endovanilloid anandamide (AEA) within several pain-related brain structures.

Failure to Observe Spinal Antinociception

open access: yes, 1993
Program year: 1992/1993Digitized from print original stored in HDRIn this research, it was attempted to elicit the phenomenon of spinally activated antinociception. Surprisingly, the effect failed to be observed.

Inhibition of tonic spinal glutamatergic activity induces antinociception in the rat

open access: yes, 2015
Inhibition of tonic activity in spino-supraspinal projection neurons induces heterosegmental antinociception that is mediated by opioid receptors in nucleus accumbens.

Sex Differences in Opioid Antinociception

open access: yesThe Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 1997
Previous studies indicate that mu opioid agonists such as morphine may produce greater antinociception in male than in female rodents. The present study was designed to investigate the generality of this finding across dose, time and type of opioid agonist.
