Antiproliferative Triterpenes from Melaleuca ericifolia
Journal of Natural Products, 2008Three new 28-norlupane triterpenes, 28-norlup-20(29)-en-3beta-hydroxy-17beta-hydroperoxide (1), 28-norlup-20(29)-en-3beta-hydroxy-17alpha-hydroperoxide (2), and 20 S-17beta,29-epoxy-28-norlupan-3beta-ol (3), were isolated from the leaves of Melaleuca ericifolia along with eight known pentacyclic triterpenes.

Cardiotoxicity of the Antiproliferative Compound Fluorouracil
Drugs, 1999The antimetabolite fluorouracil (5-FU) is frequently administered for chemotherapy of various malignant neoplasms. The drug is well known for its adverse effects involving bone marrow, skin, mucous membranes, intestinal tract and central nervous system, whereas its cardiotoxicity is less familiar to clinicians.

New Antiproliferative Immunosuppressive Agents
Journal of Pharmacy Practice, 2003Since the early 1980s, the combination of cyclosporine, azathioprine, and prednisone has been the mainstay tripledrug immunosuppressive regimen used in transplantation. However, advances in drug research, design, and development have allowed for the introduction of new agents that have greatly increased the number of immunosuppressive agents available ...

Chalcogen-Containing Phenolics as Antiproliferative Agents
Future Medicinal Chemistry, 2018The increasing number of cancer cases has stimulated researchers to seek for novel approaches. We have combined two bioactive moieties: a polyphenolic scaffold and an organoselenium motif. Four different families (isothiocyanates/thioureas, and their selenium isosters) derived from dopamine, (±)-norepinephrine and R-epinephrine were accessed ...

Synthesis and antiproliferative activity of retroetoposide
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2003Retro-4'-demethyl-4-epipodophyllotoxin 6 was synthesized in eight steps and 10% overall yield from 4'-demethyl-4-epipodophyllotoxin 12. Subsequent coupling of 22 with 1-O-trimethylsilyl-4,6-O-ethylidene-beta-D-glucoside 26 afforded retroetoposide 5 which is 10-fold less cytotoxic than etoposide against L1210 cell line.

Somatostatin — An Antiproliferative Hormone?
1988Effects of somatostatin (SST) on the proliferation of human peripheral blood lymphocytes and human brain tumor (meningioma, glioblastoma, prolactinoma) cells were investigated in vitro. The incorporation of labelled thymidine into DNA was used as an index of proliferation.

Antiproliferative Effects of Probiotics
2018Probiotics are defined as live microorganisms that confer health benefits on the host when consumed in adequate amounts. They maintain proper microbial balance in gastrointestinal tract by strain-specific health-promoting activities like their antimicrobial, immunomodulation, anti-inflammatory, and anticarcinogenic attributes.

Antiproliferative Effects of Interferon
1988Interferon (IFN) was originally described as a product of virus-infected cells that conveyed virus-resistance to other cells (1). It was subsequently noted that IFN also inhibited the growth of cultured cells (2). IFNs produced by different methods were found to have distinct biological, biochemical, or antigenic properties: virus-induced, acid-stable ...

Novel antiproliferative antitumor agents.
Current opinion in drug discovery & development, 2005Small molecules with potent and selective antitumor activity continue to be identified by screening in cellular assays and to be entered into clinical development, and in some cases small molecules are progressed despite the fact that the mechanism of action is unknown.
