Vasorelaxant and antiproliferative effects of berberine
European Journal of Pharmacology, 2000The present study was intended to examine the relaxant effects of berberine in rat isolated mesenteric arteries. Berberine produced a rightward shift of the concentration-response curve to phenylephrine and significantly reduced the maximal contractile response to phenylephrine.

Antiproliferative Effects of the Enantiomers of Flurbiprofen
The Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1996Nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are recognized for inhibiting growth of colon tumors in animal models, and for reducing the risk of colon cancer in humans. The mechanisms involved have not been established, but are thought to be related to reduced prostaglandin biosynthesis.

Antiproliferative Action of Vitamin D
2002During the past few years, it has become apparent that vitamin D may play an important role in malignant transformation. Epidemiological studies suggest that low vitamin D serum concentration increases especially the risk of hormone-related cancers.

Constituents of Chinese Propolis and Their Antiproliferative Activities
Journal of Natural Products, 2002Two new flavonoids, 3-O-[(S)-2-methylbutyroyl]pinobanksin (1) and 6-cinnamylchrysin (2), were isolated from the EtOAc-soluble fraction of the MeOH extract of Chinese propolis, along with 12 known compounds (3-14). The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic and chemical analyses.

Antiproliferative and Cytotoxic Activities
2018Cancer is a genetic disease, affecting many people worldwide. Chemotherapy is routinely used for cancer treatment. However, this therapeutic approach is not always effective due to the development of cell resistance and toxic effects. Plants are a reservoir of natural chemicals with chemoprotective potential against cancer and with low adverse effects.

Somatostatin — An Antiproliferative Hormone?
1988Effects of somatostatin (SST) on the proliferation of human peripheral blood lymphocytes and human brain tumor (meningioma, glioblastoma, prolactinoma) cells were investigated in vitro. The incorporation of labelled thymidine into DNA was used as an index of proliferation.

Antiproliferative Withanolides from Jaborosa Riojana
FitoterapiaSix previously undescribed withanolides, of which three had a normal glycosylated skeleton (Jaborosalactones 49-51) and three had a sativolide skeleton (12-O-methyl jaborosalactone 52, jaborosalactone 53, and 12-O-methyl jaborosalactone 53), were isolated from the aerial parts of Jaborosa riojana.

Antiproliferative Effects of Interferon
1988Interferon (IFN) was originally described as a product of virus-infected cells that conveyed virus-resistance to other cells (1). It was subsequently noted that IFN also inhibited the growth of cultured cells (2). IFNs produced by different methods were found to have distinct biological, biochemical, or antigenic properties: virus-induced, acid-stable ...
