Fungal Proteins with Antiproliferative and Anticancer Activities

Protein & Peptide Letters, 2013
Fungi produce a variety of proteins with antiproliferative activity toward tumor cells and anticancer activity in tumor bearing mice. The aforementioned fungal proteins include ribonucleases, antifungal proteins, ubiquitin-like peptides, ribosome inactivating proteins, hemolysins, hemagglutinins/lectins, laccases, and protein-bound polysaccharopeptides.

Antiproliferative activity of salinomycin and its derivatives

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2012
Antiproliferative activity of seven amides and one benzotriazole ester derivative of salinomycin, a polyether ionophore antibiotic, with recently reported antibacterial activity, are herein described. Salinomycin and the majority of derivatives exhibit potent antiproliferative activity against the drug-resistant cancer cell lines.

Antiproliferative Activity of Cobra Venom Cytotoxins

Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, 2015
Cytotoxins (or cardiotoxins, CTs) are small rigid membrane-active proteins of the three-finger toxin (TFT) family. They comprise about 60 amino acid residues, stabilized by four disulphide bridges. CTs, the most abundant proteins in cobra venom are able to kill cancer cells in a dose and time-dependent manner.

Antioxidant and Antiproliferative Activities of Common Vegetables

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2002
Epidemiological studies have shown that consumption of fruits and vegetables is associated with reduced risk of chronic diseases. Increased consumption of fruits and vegetables containing high levels of phytochemicals has been recommended to prevent chronic diseases related to oxidative stress in the human body. In this study, 10 common vegetables were
